I WANT MORE PAIN!

category: general [glöplog]
What is the status of my favourite scene magazine? Damnit, since when is it a yearly affair? ;)

BRING ON THE PAIN!

Hugi knocked Pain off the bandwagon.

having one demoscene magazine is like having 90% of media controlled by one corporation.
oh, wait...

should be another issue before end of 2004.
would help to motivate us to move our ass if you people could start writting those partyreports, articles and tutorials. and mailing it to us.

we know erik, we know.

Ah okay, on further inspection that looks like a "no" then.
no, that sounds like a "you should download a few issues of something you wish to contribute for" for the sake of downloading a few issues and realizing what you are contributing for before doing so.

ps : Downloading a few issues was what my "further inspection" consisted of. Had a bad day have we?
have i ever seemed to be having a good day to you?

we'll do another pain, that's sure. please consider that pain is a free mag, done in our own free time with no obligations bounded to it. this year was pretty heavy from my side (unfortunately it's mainly my time that counts since i have to do all the layouting and organizing) and we'll see what's possible for the rest of the year. of course we would like to deliver one more mag, that's no question at all. the questions is, whether this scene still deserves pain? ;-)

ps was perfectly right about the possibilities on how to motivate us and bringing the next issue in a shorter time. we need your support. articles, partyreports, reviews, interviews, stories, rants, musics, graphics, money and girls should be sent to us! and don't forget to fill the votesheet on http://pain.scene.org-

parapete: of course all kind of articles are welcome, especially tutorials and all that. it's not that we don't want tutorials just because there haven't been a lot of tutorials yet - there aren't a lot of tutorials because nobody cared to write them..

dalezy: mix them together and construct a quiz out of it where the goal is to find out which part belong to which party ;-)

randomi: it shouldn't be a yearly affair, but imagine that we're no schoolkids having plenty of free time anymore (unlike the maineditors of other mags ;-))

okay, i think i've written enough. i'd rather concentrate on articles ;-) anyway, contact us at pain@planet-d.net if you got something you could help us out with! we'd be very glad!

(Off-topic)

ParaPete:
Of course there are also diskmags for which tutorials on aspects about raytracing might be suitable.

am i seeing some kind of rivalry and fight for material here? hmmmm
added on the 2004-09-26 08:32:36 by randomi randomi
I don't think it's a rivalry. ParaPete checked Pain, noticed that it doesn't contain almost any coding or graphic-engineering related articles at all, and then concluded that for this reason, Pain isn't a suitable diskmag for his articles. OTOH, there are also diskmags that have large coding/gfx-making corners in comparison.

adok, perhaps you've just outlined the very reason for pain having so few articles about coding/graphics.
added on the 2004-09-26 11:05:07 by randomi randomi
i'll avoid biting claus desperate flamebait throw and just let the sceners decide to which mag they should send their articles.
added on the 2004-09-26 13:28:40 by psenough psenough
righta, just want to let everybody know that we'll release pain as soon as there are enough articles. we won't force anything.
