Why are people complaining about quality of releases, but never producing things on their own utter crap?

Because we can't code, but can't pass up the opportunity to judge others. And we're also afraid of producing on our own utter crap, whatever that means.

I also hope we can release our first contribution to the scene soon, meaning something which has more than 48 total hours of coding/designing/tracking/drawing and which is completely finished one week before the deadline, so we will finally say "no, it couldn't have been better".

Thinking twice, I'd rather buy beer, download some demo with ugly screenshots and then bash them on Pouet after watching 5 seconds of them.

nah, lets skip the demos and just booze instead!

Polaris_ND you just broke the floor on my internal respsect-o-meter. YOU SUCK.

definition 1: America = {South America u North America}

Definition 2: North America = {Canada u USA u ...}

Definition 3: South America = {...}

Non-relevant entities has been left out and marked with "...".

So you see, Northern Dragqueens (www.northerndragons.ca) is in fact AMERICANS.

And being a basher my self, I must admit that the MAJORITY of the American demo-scene sucks (however, exceptions do occur).
If everyone would produce demos instead of complaining about their quality, the overal quality would drop once again. :>>>>>>

RA5MUS - I see that you've adopted use of a internal respect meter. So obviously, you have just shown that my ideas have some credit.

However, you are off the mark on two basic things.

Primarily, you are failing to argue about the topic at hand. Instead of saying why you are failing to make anything worth while (aside from your endless gripes on Pouet), you attack people and their nationalities. You could be tackling the issues and arguments, instead you pull out the old Ad Hominem fallacy. This tells me that you can’t tackle the issues, and instead reach for the easiest target to grasp.

This reach stretches even further. I see that you know set theory. This is good, it will help me make it easier to explain this. While Canada is a subset of group “North America”, it is not a subset of item “America”. Sure, you can call me a North American because I am. However, to call me American is both INCOMPLETE and WRONG. Don’t confuse subset with superset. Doing so shows me that you are failing both set theory, and geography. It’s the equivalent of saying ice cream is cream, or ice.

I’ll remind you that the topic is questioning why are people griping instead of making things. It is not about the North American scene having value. I believe there is a separate thread for that.

Again, your postings show more about the character of your personality (and lack of it), your values as a human being instead of any particular insight into the topic.

I see that you know set theory. [...] While Canada is a subset of group ?North America?, it is not a subset of item ?America?.

Item is usually undefined.
A Group is a set G, equipped with with a binary operation GxG->G, called multiplication, a unitary operation G->G, called inverse, and a distinguished element, called the unit element, which satisfy some additional conditions, like the commutativity of the diagram

(GxG)xG -> GxG -> G
|| ||
Gx(GxG) -> GxG -> G

and so on. Since "North America" usually comes without such operations, i won't call it a group. "subset of item" is nonsense. If you speak about math, be precise.

by the way, both Polaris and RA5MUS are incorrect :)
RA5MUS would be correct, if he dropped the "{" and "}" signs (in the original post, the set "America" has only one element, which happen to be another set). Polaris' argument is wrong in any case...

(yeah, i hope this post helps the thread to be even more nonsense :)

oh, look what happened with my nice diagram...
but, as probably nobody cares, i won't draw another one :)

You are right. "subset of item" is nonsense. I was illustrating that. However, that’s the logic that RA5MUS arguments depends on. Sorry that it came across as my own.

Anyway, why are we still talking about set theory? Isn’t this thread about asking why people that complain never contribute their own prods?

Aside of the topic at hand: If we are getting really picky about it.... Northern Dragons is not strictly a North American group. (I never said we were). We have members outside of North America, and South America, and any other “America” you care to try to extrapolate or invent!

Arguing with generalities and assumptions only showcases lack of knowledge and understanding. I have no quarrel with the scene outside of North America. I’ve traveled overseas to participate in it. Guess that means that scene must be crap too. I don’t generalize and confuse individuals as the group.

In general mathematics you are indeed "allowed" to group sentencies by using any of the following brackets: {}, [], (), <>, etc. As long as they are well-balanced and not interleaved.

As to the "on-topic" discussion, I have probably been more active in the scene release-wise than you will ever be, so put your dick in your hand and keep wanking.

Check f.ex. these links:

As many times as Canadians have bitched at folks in 'the states' (notice how I call it 'the states'? That's because I worked with Canadians who INSISTED on the term 'American' being INCLUSIVE of Canadians, and thus, 'the states.') ...

I finally have a Canadian wanting to be EXCLUDED from the term, in print.

(What this really shows, I believe, is just how much damage we've done to our credibility as a nation recently... nothing else.)

And with that, let's return to the subject at hand:
