POUNDS-OFF: The demoscene weight-loss platform for the lardy!

category: offtopic [glöplog]
Well, since I don't run, mostly because I think it's boring (without chasing a ball, like in floorball, for instance) but also because I'm too heavy to do it without any major harm to my knees (even though I actually ran through the hall and up the stairs at Evoke when a track was near ending and I had been outside with noone at the broadcasting station), I plan to WALK that 5k stretch instead. Plus - and I'm sorry about breaking the rules - I'll actually skip the strafschnapps afterwards for obvious reasons. :P

But, I urge ye others who won't run the stretch, to join me in the walk instead. :) D.Fox, you'll tag along, I hope? :)

Ziphoid, great idea (again!). If my training doesn't yet allow me to run the stretch, I'll join the walk for sure!

Ziphoid: I could walk 5km, I suppose. Count me in then :)

dude, that is a great idea!

Also, since Punqtured is mister speed-fitness, I think a very suitable sort of straf for him could be to do the 5k lap twice. You could

I probably could - but not much fun in "doing an extra stint" if I'm all alone and there's even nobody at the finish-line :)

Hmmm ... if any fins plan to attend ... we should have a finnish line instead of a finish line! :-p

you sir, have just earned a bonus straf for that joke :)

no i was thinking of somebody is walking, you would pass them twice! :D

then he'd have to start at the back or run three rounds...

You'd do the run first, take your straf, then do another lap until you catch up with walkers. Walk the rest of the way with them, and then you earned one more straf!

I'm in for a leisurely stroll.

Haha, not trying to derail the thread, but here's another idea for the 5k run. Since a lot of people are registering their personal bests on Endomondo, we handicap people accordingly. Basically we delay faster runners in such a way that everyone arrives at the finish line simultaneosly, for one hell of a sprint. :-)

Ohohohohooooooooooo STRAF HANDICAPS :D I see where this is going ;)

We don't have runs at Solskogen, but the surrounding roads are actually long and great for walks. Walking from Ås city center to the partyplace is a very good one (just ask Gargaj :)

gloom, you have a football competition though!

The amount of time it took someone to get a suitable ball almost qualified the event as a walk instead ;)

Couple of fixed to the site. Only small stuff though.

- Show Date in the chart overlay
- two-column "who" list (except for biggest weight-loss)
- Info on how to get a SceneID
- Flags have titles now
- Removed '/' if there's no group
- Removed pounds and replaced them with kg

according to google maps it's also around 5-6km-ish so it's nothing really :)

run it then : D
bstrr: yeah, but it can only feature a limited number of teams in order to be entertaining for the audience (and not last an entire day :), plus: I don't know if you've noticed, but some of those teams are really competitive. :D A nice walk could be an alternative for many -- including me.

gargaj: oh I think the state of you when you arrived strongly disagrees with it being "nothing really" :)

Being competitive comes with being a demoscener, surely..

i can't run, plain and simple, i have stories about me being proven to be the slowest and least impressive runner on a school-level.
