3D printed Sculpture / Rapid Prototyping

category: offtopic [glöplog]

dear demosceners,

the last few months i was working like hell on a sculpture i printed via rapid prototyping technology.

i wanted to do a fusion with classical anatomic stuff and wildstyle graffiti.
i made a book about this all for ipad2 and it´s available for free now.

if you´re interested please get your free copy here:

i know this it not demoscene related but it uses the same techniques, principles and skills that i need when doing 3d stuff for a demo.

everything was modeled with zbrush and it was really a lot of work to do.

please let me know what you think - and i hope you enjoy :)

book looks nice
what did you use to put it together? i know how to submit apps to the store but not books, curious what tools there are out there to accomplish this.

hi guys and thanks for the friendly comments

i thought about making a non ipad version for android and other users.

the problem is, there are so many movies and keynotes in the book that
a pure pdf would not work.

i´m really sorry for that.

if some of you have an idea to transfer it in a good way i´m happy for every
advice.

@tomaes and psenough

yes, thats right - i used the free software ibooks author for creating the whole thing.

btw here is another piece i created:

it is a two finger ring called: AlohaT!ki •curly cross•

i modeled everything in zbrush and then sent it to shapeways and made a 3d print in stainless steel from it - pretty heavy that thingy :) :)

let me know what you think - and have a nice day

PDF supports embedded videos..
It's taking some time to download, in the olden days I'd be expecting some huge 20 volume wall-filler of a book :)

It's crazy cool that you can model something in a 3d tool, and get it made quite easily now. Once we have decent 3d printing at home, the world is going to be a very different place.

The book is seriously awesome :D Absolutely tons of great art in there, and it's really nicely put together. Some parts are extremely demoish too :) Can't see how it would work as a pdf though, that would be like trying to print out a demo..
