Berlin Scene Meeting, 15. September at C-Base

category: parties [glöplog]

Short term notice, in case you missed that:

It has been a long time since our last demoscene event at C-Base. But we finally settled on a date, and it's going to be awesome: Maybe a bit quieter. But we will make up with some nice original releases and a hand picked selection of the last years demoscene highlights.

Rough schedule:
18:00 Barbecue Discussion
19:30 Talk by Thomas "pixtur" Mann: From Vision to Realtime - How we make demos
21:00 Demo Screening
22:30 Chillout (e.g. Geeks may not dance but get drunk)

If you still have a hard time figuring out what this is all about:
Demoscene is small sub-culture dedicated to creating realtime computer graphics on all kinds of hardware. Once in a while some guys from demo demoscene groups Still, LKCC, and Bauknecht hijack Berlin's only appropriate location for this kind of thing- the C-Base - to spread the word, watch some kick ass animations on a big screen and nice speakers and to party.

Everybody is welcome.

There is one since 1983, indeed!
Well I did cross a scener at my workplace, however so far haven't met any randomly in the street as you would in HKI ;)

I really have to make it my personal mission to visit C-Base some day. On the way back from the Shucon party this summer, my sleeper train reached Berlin Ostbahnhof around midnight, and while it was shunting around to connect with another train, it pulled up at a spot where I had an amazing view of a warehouse building looking like some kind of post-industrial theme park, surrounded by coloured lights reflecting in the river. I had no idea what it was, but I was totally transfixed by the place.

I looked it up afterwards, and I was delighted to find out it was a hackspace... and now I'm even more delighted to find out that it has a demoscene connection. Making a trip to Berlin today on impulse is probably a bit far-fetched though... have fun :-)

I've been at the base a few times and once visited some semi-regular "3D-Stammtisch" there - mostly modellers/animators who were blown away by everything realtime/procedural :)
You'll have fun, it's a great place. I'm still tempted to catch a train to Berlin tomorrow...

Dalezy, I moved here this April. I'll definitely visit any scene event I can although this one was on too short a notice. We are a few TPOLM members now living here actually!
