Revision 2013 - Damages

Actually I prefer calling it an "effort to score an competition advantage".

Are you serious? I really loved that poster at Revision 2012. But nonetheless I voted for another picture in the compo (if I remember correctly). If princetOM is giving away free beer to people who vote for him then I see the "competition advantage", but by showing his detailed stuff as a poster?

omfg you invite 800+ sceners to party hard for 4 days, most of whom have never had a responsible drunk in their life, and you end up with a bit of scratched wallpaint, some toiletstall graffiti and stickers? vojne vojne... I guess that means the scene has really grown old and responsible cause I recall some of the parties I attended and/or helped organised where stuff like
- people burning chairs and tables outside the party building ($$$)
- swiss sceners throwing furniture out of a window (third floor) ($$$)
- someone setting of a smoke-bomb in the staircase ( I think he said he wanted to delay the compo-deadline) (re-paint)
- people tagging the icehall floor with spraycans (removal + repaint)
- someone brought a teargascan because of a BBS dispute and went havoc (police intervention)
- neonazis (from Censor Design if I am not misstaken) forcing an old passing by lady to do a hitler salute infront of the main entrance. (Police intervention)
- people making a huge wallpainting with ketchup and mustard from the local mcdonalds. (that shit was toxic, we had to repaint)
- someone dumping their obsolete gear (amigaaaas) in the little pound/fountain just infront of the main entrance (ruining the pumps $$$). etc etc
Ironically, most of these parties actually had banned alcohol... Anyway I guess this is just the tip of a mountain of similar stories people have.

I am really glad the demoscene have grown responsible, but do you really have to be so Prussian and obnoxious to call people out on pouet and threaten to ban them because of some stickers and ducktape marks? Especially when they apparently added a lot to the party atmosphere... couldnt you just tell them in private and make a less aggressive public statement? just sayin...

dubmood: if the party's further editions are risked by it, then yeah, i think it's a reasonable warning to say.

Besides, it's one thing to expect idiotic juvenile behavior from a bunch of stupid teenagers but most of the scene is 30+ and really ought to know better.

Yes, of course, sceners are grown and that is why they are still sceners, meeting in a dark party hall while their kids search the eggs alone :P Dancing drunk to some silly electro music, shouting Scheiße all the time and AAAAMMMIIGGGAAAA! Spending a lot of time and money just for the sake of it. Scene is about preserving childhood! Just my 2 cents.

And yes, my kids were searching the eggs with me. 100% sofa-scener! Thanks for the possibility to still participate a great event on the stream & irc...

Sure, but then your childhood wasn't free of repercussion if you got caught doing shit, was it? :)

alternatively looking for eggs can preserve your childhood better than binge drinking while being surrounded by hardware ;)

I never claimed that ;) just pointing out "doing shit" is scene central :D

Still I claim that being surrounded by hardware can boil your eggs :-}

you bloody bastard *lol*
no seriously... that's the kind of spirit the scene is about. i bring my posters. you enjoy. has nothing to do with the compo itself. if other people entries are better, it's fine. this has nothing to do with "compo-influencing". otherwise i would have quit after 2012 :-)

you mean like free BBQ for all ? *muhaha*.
THAT has been done already. but i'm not complaining here. actually i like that very idea very much. but it's not my cup of tea.

so:
@raven:
live and let live. no need to bitch around. it's my way of enjoyment to bring some posters. so what ? if you don't like them, ignore them. simple as that.

At least I am happy to be able to walk around safe at a party nowadays.
One of the worse parties ever must have been 1991/1992, which was an easterparty I NEVER forget.

Day one, someone threw out a big-ass CRT monitor through the window at the 3rd floor, which caused quite some damage. It was not too safe to walk from one room to another without getting your head shaved, or get picked on or even beated up just for the fun of it!

Drunk "elite" members kicked "lamers" down a stair and pissed at them. Some people were doing hard drugs and one guy almost passed out for real in a sleepingbag due an overdose of cox. A smokebomb went of in a room.... After that, I took my C-64+1541, sleepingbag, backpack and a 19" CRT screen and walked to the trainstation and did NOT come back.
JuvenileShithead:
Oh yeah those were quite some horrible things! Man I am soooo glad those days are over.
Heh, I remember when I hiked with a nice scener from HZ and we were going to a party in Denmark. Man I must have been in my early pee-15-years or so. First thing happened was someone fired a lightgun in the main hall and yeah that was really madness. It almost put the party place on fire, but luckely it crashed through a window to get stuck in a tree...
I did not except things like that to happen, so heh for the next 3 days I played C-64 games nonstop in a basment, where I felt safe ;) I just dared to get some food when everyone were kind of sleeping. Just crazy...

But yeah, I can really understand the deal about to pay "extra" money to clean and repaint walls, won't argue about that.
Peace out and thanks for a lovely party!

What's with all this sticker non-sense? Fobs are where it's at. Nothing to remove, and more stylish! ;)

However as a recipient of a "Booze Alarm" sticker, which I think is great, I never once thought about sticking it somewhere up in the hall. I probably should have collected more stickers (perhaps in trade for a fob). However being quite late to this miniparty, I think that unfortunately even if "good quality" stickers were provided, there's going to be someone who puts it somewhere they shouldn't.

Also, I was offered at least six of those "Booze Alarm" stickers but only took one. I think with more than one at a time, there's the "What do I do with all these stickers?" temptation. I was wondering at the close of the party if the stickers would be an issue, and I'm sad that they turned out to be :(

Even though I didn't place any stickers myself, I too would be happy to help donate some bit to help cover the losses caused by the stickers. It's a bit unfair on the whole, but I think I would rather come back to another wonderful party than "man, fixing up the party hall ruined this year's budget." (Along with a solution to remove the problem the next year).

My 2¢.
AMcBain makes a good point. At this stage demosceners should do whatever the fuck they can* to keep party organizers happy. They're a scarce resource.

* Including, but not limited to: following sticker policies, respecting deadlines, making really great prods, giving them beers, sexual favors, etc.

AMcBain: I absolutely love these key fobs!!!! <3 I wish we had chatted a bit more at the party :/ .. but thanks for bringing them along :)

In theory I'll be there again next year, and with more fobs. Barring unforeseen circumstances and that nobody had any issues with the fobs (in the manner of the stickers).

In regards to that, maybe a lack of stickers (self-enforced) will cause people to get more creative? I'll admit that the fobs I passed out probably aren't anywhere near as cheap as stickers, but I did manage to pass out ~135 Nectarine key fobs. (and that's sort of only because I decided to get them made < a month from when I left for the party) I'm fairly certain other people could come up with some interesting ideas.

(There will be more Revision ones next year! I only had ~45 and I felt bad turning people away. I hope to remedy that.)
thanks for the fob. Really original. It got a well deserved place on our altar

Nice semi-professional trolling effort. Better get your facts right: The free barbeque didn't advertise any competition entries.

For all the rest:

It's my opinion. Get over it. :D

Hahaha! Our precious altar, and yes, we're definitely dutch.
the glass dildo is actually a liquor bottle from a Scandinavian festival, so don't blame us ;)

Barring unforeseen circumstances, I'm planning to be back next year! and with more fobs. I also wouldn't mind if people wanted to help make that happen, either. I gave away all the fobs at the party for free, and I'd like to do that again. (details on the from://kennewick group website)

Anyway, if you want a Nectarine one and don't mind paying postage I have 10 left from a batch I didn't take (see the Nectarine homepage, about 3rd down for that).
i want a Nectarine one waht does shipping to Sweden cost ?
Clocks in at $6.50 (USD), which is about €5. Cheapest I can get, small padded envelope via USPS. Afaik by self-reports, they haven't lost a shipment yet, international or otherwise.
@AMcBain i want one what do you want for one + shipping ? can paypal you the money in about 1,5 week when i have some money if you save one for me
