I guess he really likes Reed. Song 3 is A Synthetic Device.

(Not that there's anything wrong with liking Reed, the songs are good. but it's not even flattery to rip him off!)

The numbers I am referencing are for this album (Moondust Ambiance).

Has Bandcamp responded? The albums are still available for purchase...

Not yet, then again it was weekend and Bandcamp it's in California, the day has barely started there.

RouteNote responded that their "standard practise is to inform the content provider and give them 5 business days grace period to respond with a statement", and after that they "process removal notices to all outlets asap".

That Neon Corporation track is an old Zalza chiptune. It was used in this prod

We received your communication of 11/23/2014 and promptly disabled access to the content located at https://neonspider.bandcamp.com/track/tin-can-disco as of 11/24/2014.

I'm guessing all other infringements should be handled by their respective authors.

I got facinated by this guy so I sent him a very polite message asking when he did the zalza track in question. here is the reply I got.

Quote:
I made the first one at the start of the year. Then Corporation Remix was a second attempt using similar keys, but a slightly different melody. The most recent version I made was Corporation Regeration which was last month or the month before, I think. I've changed DAW sequencers from LMMS (Chiptune sequencer) to Orion Studio/Platinum and now I've been using FL Studio for the soundtracks, Frontliners, and Star Frontier. I'm planning to make a fourth mix in FL but I think I've overdone the name xD

afaik the zalza track is from late 99 or early 00.
The album "Moondust Ambiance" seems to have been pulled from Bandcamp. The album "Neon Corporation" no longer has the track "Neon Corporation" in it. However the album "Fractal Factory" still has both "Spacewalk" and "Neon Corporation" in it, at time of writing.

It seems complaints have been processed for most of the songs we've identified.
I'll troll him some more to get more funny quotes on how he composed 15 year old fasttracker2 tracks in Fruity Loops.

Holy crap, thank you for all the support! Fractal Factory and Moondust Ambience started making profits! Cheers to the supporters, andI hope what you got what you paid for was bloody awesome!

I guess its nice to know that he made some profits he can share with the real authors :)

@Saga Musix , in goes ideas and out pops fully formed chiptunes that are totally his own, because cryptomnesia! (No, I don't believe that.)

@CONS , I saw that, and was sad.

This guy seems to not really have much in the way of personal creativity. His Bandcamp has a Turrican Mix on it, and it's not so much a remix or cover as it is choosing at what points to start and stop playing various recordings of someone else's songs. It's not even a very good mix, either.
Starchaser: Well, I was more referring to the fact that LMMS is more of a FL Studio clone than a tool specifically made for creating/stealing chiptunes
@Saga Musix , ah ok. However my point was more I don't know how he expected to get away with pretending he replicated other people's tunes exactly within FL/LMMS, let alone doing so with songs from people as well known as Purple Motion and Reed Richards.

It's what I use to open sid files with to peruse, edit and create...

True, but it wasn't SID tunes that were stolen. These were tracker format files from well known artists. It doesn't even seem like he made any edits, other than to record it to a non-tracker format for use with Bandcamp.
The mails seem to have been effective, the account is no more. :)

This page gives a contact address (e-mail too) and what needs to be sent in order to initiate a notice of infringement. I don't know if authors on Pouet besides Gargaj (Reed) saw this thread so perhaps someone may want to notify them?
Gargaj is not Reed. Reed is Reed!

For it to stick, do multiple people have to report the dude, or is one report enough?
Well his "new" album hasn't been found guilty of anything (yet)

Seems someone already commented on the album to point out the theft of Purple Motion's Satellite One. It's really really obvious who the original artist is to anyone with any tracker/demoscene relation. I still don't get how he thought he'd get away with it.

@Gargaj , yeah, but I don't think we found any songs in the album he put back up that had been borrowed? At least not from the scene, anyway.

I also didn't check all songs (erf) but his SoundCloud contains Fractal Factory - Neon Corporation which we'd already determined was a Zalza rip, and Fractal Factory - Spacewalk noted above to be a rip of Static.

and an "amiga remix" of Neon Factory which I don't know if it's suspect or not.

I think I have an idea why he "borrowed" so heavily: the original songs on his SoundCloud aren't that great. They're not trash, but I don't think I'd listen to them more than once. Which makes it kind of strange: how did nobody notice that the stuff on his albums wasn't the same caliber as what is potentially his own work?
I don't usually do public reviews of stuff on Amazon, but I added mine there too. He shouldn't be able to profit off of someone else's work like that.
