you tried contacting YouTube to take the video offline for copyright infringement btw? it's perhaps a long shot considering VEVO is a big customer for YouTube but if they see your point is valid you might have some bells going off.

Morodor's video doesn't even have 250k views, which is peanuts for a music video, so yeah, Moroder's comeback is not going very well :)

Taking it was released primarily in Vevo and most media use the embedded Vevo video, it's not surprising that it doesn't have that many views (the Vevo video has >300k visits, and AFAIK it doesn't count embedded views).

It's no Gangnam Style, but not a low figure by any means.

Yeah, seriously. Look at the view counts on this page. Plenty of videos with more than 500 million views.

yeah, i'm not saying it's extremely popular... just that view counts on video sites are not the-definite-popularity-rating (tm). I don't think Moroder has ever been "mainstream", even if many people actually know many of his songs, most would never even recall the "Giorgio Moroder" name.

Still, 250k views on youtube, plus 300k in Vevo, plus probably much more than those two figures together in embedded video views (probably "the creator's project" blog post with the embedded vevo video by itself, where it was announced, makes more than those two figures together, since it's the first non-video link about the news), makes it a "reasonably popular video"... enough to make it worth to go "against it" :-)

i think it shouldn't be about not making it longer available for viewers, cos who cares. it should be about poking someone who is responsible for those videos awake that something is wrong with the video and who may ask someone at Moroder's what's up with it to set hopefully some things in motion :)

and at least it's the most watched youtube of a demo (assuming fr-debris is 2nd best ;P)

for (c) violation? Because afaik there is no signed contract. Or at least contact createdigitalmotion and write your blog about how big labels treat underground artists.

And how musician didn't inform main person behind this demo about the situation is beyond me. Next time boys with big labels: lawyer+contract. No other proper way around - just fuckups

I'm willing to assume that Navis and the people giving him Actual Qualified Legal Advice have considered the option of a Youtube takedown request, and have good solid reasons for not going down that route right now, even if it is the most entertaining one for us spectators.

Right now we're at stage 2:

1) try to sort it out politely without lawyers
2) try to sort it out politely with lawyers
3) RELEASE THE HOUNDS.

Hi,

The communication between us (asd) and the production company has become much better. This will drag on for a while now, but to me it seems that it is going to be settled one way or another - without lawyers or going public etc.

My life is too complicated right now to be involved with this on a daily basis, so I thought "let it be" for now (for the next few weeks) and whatever happens happens. Maybe this seems like a loser attitude, but I'm in a stage of my life where I want to do new things rather than look in the past.

I'll keep you informed one way or another.

In all honesty, I think that's what I would do if I were in your position. There's so much going on in the world, trouble, opportunies, good times and bad. Maybe it's just not worth the sweat to worry about someone paying you that second-highest tribute (right after satire).

I once read an interview from Emmanuel Top, a French techno producer. He keeps a box labeled "Mes problèmes", which contains stuff like an "Emmanuel Top's Collected Best Works" CD published by a foreign record label that he never signed for or got a penny for. The idea is that officially he intends to, at some point, address those problems, but deep inside he knows he never will and keeps the box for nostalgia's/ego's sake. I thought it was a nice idea: put the problems somewhere, explicitly mark them as unsolved, and accept it if you never get around to addressing them.

I don't think it's a loser attitude. If it's what you end up doing, and people get angry at you for it, it's those people who are losers. It's your work and your problem! Don't feel any obligation to anyone except the people you made the demo with.
