Demogroup name candidates that didn't quite make it!

category: general [glöplog]
inspired by some IRC talk, coming up with a name for your demogroup is a very complex process with a lot of potential name candidates that never made it. So, share yours because it can be quite funny! :)
for example, Bohemiq (the infamous java demo group) was initially called The Bad Slippers because Scali thought badslippers (Dutch for bathroom slippers) is a terribly funny word.

Before we decided on Conspiracy, the following were candidates: "Spore", "Monolith", "... Edge" (we never came up with a suitable first word), "Black Hole", "Glow", "Demolition"

black hole sounds like a wonderful groupname.
all the porno jokes you could make about it...
would also be great to witness a collaboration with jumalauta.

Epoch was originally supposed to be "Dynasty" as suggested by sm, but a relatively irrelevant cracking group with the name existed already.

I considered Analog Sounds System at first, but thought the acronym ASS wasn't very flattering :D

We thought "Fantastic Floppy Fuckers" was the best name EVER, when one night in 1989, being adolescent and drunk, we searched for a group name. The next day we were sober again and decided against it...

Other candidates when choosing name for Lieves!Tuore in 1996 were Peräseinä!Joki and Pietar!Saari. The former was dropped because of its Scandinavian letters.

If groups that didn't make it also counts, i was in a group called Digital Orgasms back in 1994! Luckily we never released anything under that name.

Also, Conspiracy should rename to Glow and then Glow/Inque should join so he can be Glow/Glow!

Also the group "New Style Demos And Productions" never really took off for some reason..

I originally thought about being Rainier Studios because the mountain by the same name is only some miles to the west. Not a particularly funny name, and I don't recall why I didn't keep it. Doesn't matter in the end what I go with until I produce something notable.
what's a group? ;)

Primitive started life as Absurd. Cryocon was also on the table. But when we got into coding our first demo, our coder Flashback commented "well this is some primitive shit" and that name stuck like spagetti

I know we had at least one more to choose from, but the only one additional to "headcrash" I can remember right now is "cybertrash"

Alpha Design went through several name changes. Started off as Bad Sectors, renamed to Nightmare Productions, later NMP, then Oxygenic and finally settling with Alpha Design in '96, with a small stint as Mango in '97 or so.

Then again, Dekadence has never had any other names, which was nice. So, thanks to Tee-Dee for coming up with a name that stuck :)

@T-101: Absurd sounds like an awesome group name!

The crews behind 8088 MPH tried to come up with a new group name, since "Hornet+CRTC+DESiRE" was almost silly... Since the IBM was code-named Project Chess, our group was almost called The Chessmen (or, my preference, just "Chessmen"). It never quite stuck.

Traction was supposed to be called Forsaken. Vulture who made the first demo alone asked a title graphics from Visualice who delivered, but he had the titles the other way around. Thus, the demo was Forsaken by Traction instead of Traction by Forsaken.

(don't go watch it. It's awful)

Until '09 or so we just released with our nicks, without any group name. 'Faemiyah' comes from an IRC channel containing (but not limited to) all of the members.

I find it enjoyable that some people seem to be doing the same thing now.
