Revision 2016 - 25th to 28th March - Saarbrücken, Germany

category: parties [glöplog]
The only thing I disliked on this years revision was the "standing in line" on the male-toilet just in order to get a "big business" done. What could we do about it? I figured out, that this was only the case short before BIG compo-blocks were about to start. Maybe this is the thing where optimization could be done? Or to order some more toilets from the female-section at "rush-hour"... but I do not know if this might be for everyone.

Shouldn't you shut your pants AFTER breathtaking compo and not beforehand? :)

xeen: No official answer from the organizers but for a party of this size it's infeasible. All compos usually already have more than enough entries. There are exceptions in some years, but in general you can be sure that Revision doesn't have a problem with receiving too few entries. Try your luck at a smaller party.

What Saga Musix said.

Among other reasons, this is probably the main one. We'd end up with a lot of disqualified entries because there's just not enough time to show everything and it would be very frustrating to those who don't make the cut. Also, nothing beats experiencing your entry live with everybody else in the hall.

But deadline can be different for remote entries. Even week before or so...
Easter is not possible for people like me.

You know - some people don't like sofa but has no other possibility...

It's not like remote entries are forbidden, they're just not officially supported. You can still get someone on location to enter it for you.

We can always join people who visity party for revision time only and put them into production credits list. Just try to make it more realistic. It's great time, great evet. But some of us have no choice, unrotunatelly.
Of course event size eliminate exceptions. But people like me have nothing to lose :)

xeen: I had been trying to go that party (this and the previous one) for about 10 years now and I'm telling you, it's worth having those 2 weeks of "heavy silence" with wife and/or her parents afterwards :-)

I'll get in touch with you later on this year to check how things are, don't loose your hope! :-)

heavy silence for 2 weeks ONLY?
Respect! :)

Sometimes it's just 0/1 logic and nothing to recover, I suppose :)

Well - I write of pure jealousy :)

But to be more essential. I can imagine that for now organizers have enough stuff to show and do not want to eliminate / cut - that's fair.

But oldscholl compo had only few entries this year anyway.....

Why not consider packing one of these with the rest of your party gear ;-)

revision-party.net -> Competitions -> General Rules

If you submit something, you have to be present at the party. No exceptions!

For me, that means they're forbidden.

I used to be the messenger for few people over the years. But this year, after listening to some people opinions, and after thinking about it, I promised to myself that I won't do it again. If it's against the rules to submit a prod while you're not attending the party, then giving your friend credit just in order to submit it, is.. well, cheating. And I don't want to be part of it anymore.

I think it's fair game if its a proper collaboration where a good portion of the work is by both parties and one of them is going to the party. As long as there is ample contribution by the attending scener.

The website may say whatever, but I'm talking reality. I mean I could make a list but most prominently the Animation compo was won by a remote entry.

Of course, that's obvious. But I'm talking about submitting entry by someone, who is credited just for delivering the prod.

Reality is breaking the rules, I know :)
Just wanted to say I don't want to anymore.

BASTARDS! .. they should therefore come to trsac to get a proper spanking schnapps and feel bad about it (even though it by far was the best entry)

Perhaps Revision could be simply week before, or week after Easter? :)
And we can say it's still tradition and Easter time :)
It's kind of solution for remote entries for not having choice people I suppose ... or not

Heresy?
added on the 2016-04-04 22:58:41 by xeen xeen
That would exclude a lot of people who can only come because they have church holidays days off around Easter. And yeah, heresy ;-)
added on the 2016-04-04 23:15:27 by D.Fox D.Fox
Heresy, yes. You know, there are other parties to either go to or submit remote entries for :)
added on the 2016-04-04 23:34:09 by Preacher Preacher
Yeah, there's many many other parties and most of them accept remote entries. :) I know Revision is big, but I don't think it's a big deal they refuse remote entries. Just head on over and experience it first hand for yourself or collaborate with someone who is going.

I know some people don't make it every year because of family, but I think it's a nice compromise if they let you go every once in a while. Just plan for it and bring something awesome.
