TRBL's same-day party photo delivery service strikes again. This time with many photos from the build-up, made by ted. Seeing this in detail really gave me some perspective just how much work it is to prepare a party like that. Kudos to the orgas (not just of Deadline) for doing this!

BTW, if anybody wants to download the slides from my seminar and didn't write down the URL, here it is.

Thanks to the orgas. Had a great time, it was a real fun event. Also, it was the first demoparty of my boss, Antonio, and when we left the place Sunday morning, he said: "This was awesome. So, when's the next demoparty? I want to go there too."

Once again, awesome party, awesome people, awesome releases, awesome djs, awesome seminars and awesome awesomeness! Big thanks to all the organizers for making this happen once again. <3

It was also nice to be back in the hall this year! Improved facilities were a good thing though :D I hope to see you next year as well!

I also encouraged a colleague who is interested in sizecoding to visit his first party ever, he seemed to enjoy it quite a bit. Yay, outreach!

Great demoparty and, to be frank, I liked this part of the building better.

What all the other folks have said, this was an amazing party!! Thank you for organizing it!

Two years ago I was one of the guys who complained about how poorly the PA system sounded during the compos. Well not this time because it sounded superb, loud and crystal clear sound without ear-piercing frequencies made the compos, especially the music ones, very enjoyable.

The people serving at the bar were super friendly. I heard the cheaper beer variety was sold out on the first night, but every drink of coke I ordered came in a huge cup with ice and a full slice of lemon and all this for €1.50 , now that's cool! Lemon makes all the difference, really! :)

Met a lot of cool people and ended up having a few lenghty chats about (mostly) demoscene stuff. Randomly bumping into noby on saturday night was my personal highlight, it was really cool to meet you!!

I wished the abrasive concrete floor in the party hall was less dusty though, it made for a rather rough sleeping experience (the sofa spaces had already been occupied by others)

See you next year I hope? :)

Great party as usual, thanks to all visitors and other orgas. The place was probably still more dusty than promised (TM) but all in all a big improvement over the old situation, especially with the new hall layout and toilets.

By the way: Whoever put the europalette on the bonfire during the last night: Not only should common sense tell you that this is an incredibly stupid idea, but the owners were also not very happy about it (it was a specially prepared pallet whose surface was ground so that you can actually sit on it).
Riku and myself were at the bonfire at around 5am sunday morning to grill our remaining food, surprised that nobody else was outside anymore. By that time the palette was already half gone. We were later joined by two complete strangers who apparently lived nearby and had roamed the area. Since we were beyond tired already, the situation was kinda awkward and we decided to go back inside. *shrugs*

somehow leaving a palette near a bonfire surrounded by drunken sceners sounds like the stupid idea there =)

groepaz, I am rather sure it was within immediate reach but I cannot be sure.
Damn, that sucks :( I recall seeing quite a bit of stuff burning on the bonfire at some point during Saturday night, but had no idea of that.

s/was within/was NOT within/... freudian typo.
Thank you everybody for attending and releasing at this year's Deadline! We had really really nice entries and a killer 4k competition (for the second time in a row actually) which makes me really proud :)
Got some sleep again in the meantime and will upload all releases to scene.org in the course of today. Here are the results to start with! (Thanks to ted for the ASCII art)

Great decorations! Great entries. Good organisation of time, with except for friday delay. Great atmosphere, great seminars (really enjoyed despite am not a coder), great DJs, good you chosed lot of 90s original music, people enjoyed it so much, that they didnt want let you to go.

I also see profits of the small / medium parties atmosphere so the final reflection was that it was worth of coming again.

Final points:
- DJs as you can see people love oldschool so I would love to see you choose always 90s music not only when the party subject is 90, it is rare occasion to party in such big group with this amazing music which is eurodance of 90 (90s music was apogeum of music harmony and melodic), majority of us is exposed daily on modern minimal dance or dubstep so oldschoolers must listen to Corona or "put any eurodance group" themselves at home.
- full ban for smoking inside the hall and including e-cigarettes.

The topic of smoking was also discussed in a little orga meeting after the party was over; to summarize:
- Smoking is allowed in the bar area and we cannot easily forbid it because the ORWO stuff behind the bar are smokers. ;) But of course it would be considerate if other sceners would not smoke there.
- Smoking is not allowed in the main hall but many people (including non-smokers) seem to accept e-cigarettes there. However, even if they are tolerated, please don't vape in front of the bigscreen because everyone else behind you will hate you for that.
creonix, what exactly would be the problem with e-cigarettes? they don't have the passive-smoke effect (as there is no actual smoke produced, and the nicotine itself is not an issue in that regard), they don't make your clothes smell, so what's the big deal?
added on the 2017-10-03 15:17:52 by dipswitch dipswitch
I am not probably able and also not going to convince you that e-cigarettes have any negative effect on health of non smokers because you already believe it is the opposite, thats fine. But I (as non smoker) and some of non smoking people can definitely say that the air quality goes drastically down when e-cigs is used, there are various opposite conclusions and experiments done in this subject - that doesn't matter. Its like talking about sugar and aspartame. Pro-e-smokers claim that it is just H2O and encouraging to use e-cigs wherever, and in the future they most likely will say they were wrong etc. Anti-smokers claim opposite.

The final point is to respect the non smokers and air quality in any place and keep the smoking in a special area. The outside + bar is reasonable place as its partly separated from the main hall.

Creonix is right, e-cigs are maybe less annoying than tobacco, but that's not an excuse to smoke inside at all, imho.

Other than that: Awesome party, I had a splendid time and will attend again for sure :)

Thanks to all visitors for coming, it was a blast (as always).

I spoke with one of the Orwohouse staff about future plans during teardown and he told me that remodeling the floor is on their to-do list but they did not start it, as they still need to exchange old (like GDR vintage) aluminium cables in the cable duct in the floor and redo the whole "niederspannungsversorgung" (low voltage distribution, where "low voltage" means 400V) for the building. After they are done with that, they want to seal the floor, because a lot of dust just comes form the open concrete surface, which they also don't like.
I'm very happy about the progress they made in the party place and about the ppl from the Orwohouse. They are an amazing bunch of cool guys and gals.

Btw. sorry about the delay in wireless network on Friday. I tried to reuse the old Wireless APs we used at Evoke in 2015 and 2016 (Xirrus XN8 for those interested), but not operating for some time unfortunately took their toll on them, so I managed to only revive one with the help of Insane (thanks again, you rock!) - and that one later than i wished. But overall we managed to have a quite stable network.
Next time I hope that I don't need to bring three notebooks and one desktop computer with me on my flight there - the security persons were quite curious when I had to unpack a bunch of network stuff and notebooks at the checkpoints *g*

Regarding the air quality: I am a non smoker. I don't mind vaping, even next to me, as long as the flavour is not too intrusive (Scamp sat next to me for hours and it was fine). What I don't like is smoking tobacco and "dutch vegetation" in the main hall. Smoking in the bar is something I don't see as a problem, as the bar area is sufficiently separated from the main party place - plus, as Saga pointed out, the Orwo ppl are smokers and we are in their "living room". Refreshing the air before compos is a good idea and should be done.
