How to convert old STK-modules to MOD-modules?

category: music [glöplog]

Can anyone tell me how I can convert old STK-modules (like the old Karsten Obarski, Pat & AXK modules) to reference ProTracker 2.3d MOD in a good way?
I often get weird results doing this, and I noticed that loading the STK-module into ProTracker 2.3d and then saving it there, and then loading that saved module into ProTracker 2.3e and saving it there produces less noise.

Thanks in advance

While most people think that the only difference between SoundTracker MODs (or STKs) and ProTracker MODs is simply the number of sample slots (15 vs 31), the pattern commands are also vastly different. I can recommend loading the STKs into OpenMPT (there are tons of heuristics to figure out how to interpret the pattern commands) and then simply re-saving the file. It will automatically save it as a ProTracker MOD file.
Will they sound correct when played back by a Protracker compatible replayer though?

Most effects are identical, just mapped to different command letters (e.g. arpeggio may be command 0 or 1, depending on exact SoundTracker clone / fork that was used). The only exception are auto-slides, which OpenMPT can load and play but naturally not save in ProTracker MODs.
@Saga Musix. OpenMPT worked great for this problem. Thanks a lot!
OpenMPT is great for other reasons as well, and I really like your music that comes with OpenMPT.
I'm sorry for the late reply.
