Dear sceners,

the timetable and the comporules for Evoke are finally up!

While the Timetable is filled to the brim with compos, seminars, events,
acts and (yikes) deadlines nothing much has changed regarding the rules
compared to last year.

One thing _has_ changed though:

We will no longer accept "plain photos" in the "freestyle grapics competition".

This has been an ongoing discussion between Evoke organizers as well as visitors
and we finally decided that we want to keep the entries of this compo comparable
in order to have "fairer" votings and results.

We think this will be beneficial for both - people who contribute pure graphics entries
as well as people who contribute their photos. Both will hopefully enjoy a compo with
more understandable results.

Please understand that due to timetable constraints we are not able to provide a
seperate photo compo at Evoke.

As we know that the lines between graphics and photo are rather blurry, we will try
our best to allow photomontages but preselect "plain photos".

We hope to level the field in the competition and avoid disappointment for artists with
this change of rules.

See you at Evoke!

We are proud to announce our first music acts for evoke 2019. Did someone say Drum'n Bass?

The first one is a banger! We managed to get Scene veteran Muffler to play at evoke. After the democompo the dancefloor will be hot as lava.

The late Friday night is also secured. lug00ber returns to evoke and most of you know what that meas: Good Drum'n Bass with a hint of happy hardcore if to many Dutch people hanging around ;)

Bring your comfortable dancing shoes and enjoy the ride.
Check out https://2019.evoke.eu/events/ for more information.

Aaaaand the Seminars are up!

We have quite a selection of seminars this year with a wide variety of topics for everyone to choose from: a beer seminar, modern Amiga development, fun with hybrid fractals and about demoscene to become UNESCO world heritage content.

Check them out on the Evoke-Website to get more infos.

Oh, one more thing: If you want to attend the beer seminar, you best reserve your seat here: http://bit.ly/evoke-beer-19

Is there a way to get to know some visitors beforehand?
Never been before at a demoparty and will travel there alone.

and some slengpung research of previous Evokes also helps in recognizing these people at the spot :P
Seems like it hasn't been mentioned here yet, but the tracked music compo rules are now available online!

There's usually a "prevoke" happening the day before the party, where some of the people who are in town early meet up a hackerspace (I think?) for a bit of prepartying. That might be something for you, if you'd like to meet some people IRL before the actual party starts.

Haven't seen it announced yet though. Topy? t$?

...and I would love to see a normal Tracked Music Compo in 2020.. though I suppose that most probably won’t happen at all.. the ST-01 compo was fun though but that remix stuff doesn’t get me at all.

Oh. Competition: Tracked Music - “Libertine” Remix.

Mmm. Could be fun. I'm more of a one-sample-tracked-music compo-fanboy though but let's see!

We got some news about the Friday evening programm!

Shader Showdown:
The Shader Showdown is back at evoke for the 2nd time. Four contestants will compete for the cologne crown of live coding. The full event will be held on Friday evening with the two semi-finals starting at 19:15 and the final at 22:00 CEST. As last year the showdown will be held in the arena in the back of the hall. The contestants will feel the heat of the crowd as the react to the magic of live coding happen on the screen.

If you feel ready to win the showdown send a mail to havoc@outlinedemoparty.nl with the subject “Shader Showdown evoke 2019”. It’s You, the PC and 25 minutes to showcase your skills. Earn glory, fame and a spot in the grand finale held at Revision 2020.

Demoshow:
We want to give the finalists a short break after their first match to catch some breath and get their thoughts straight or maybe not.

The following on and a half hour will give you a joyride. Watch the newest and freshest demos and intros, find a gem that got lost in your memory or discover something you never imagined off. As they are made to be watched on the bigscreen, this is the place where we see you on Friday at 20:30 CEST right after the semi-finals.

Any recommendation where to park a car close to the site?
added on the 2019-07-31 18:35:08 by WeirdCtor WeirdCtor
Parking on the streets around is usually the best place to be. Just be careful that you don't park on the right hand side of the street (hall side) otherwise you'll end up winning the wrong parking compo like myself and a few others have done :)
