pouët.net

platform for misc scene stuff

category: general [glöplog]

It would be cool to find all "misc scene stuff" like party reports, etc in one "ftp.scene.org" directory. Also it would be cool if poeut.net supports a platform for those things.

I think of productions like...
- Mekka & Symposium Report at Nano - 3Sat (German Television)
- Who wants to be a scenionaire? - movie from Mekka
- C.A.P._TV_-_Demos.Of.A.New.Decade
- ...

There is a lot of misc stuff many sceners want to see. And often these files are difficult to find at several places. It would be, if pouet.net could support a platform for this kind of scene stuff. and also scene.org.

why? this is a site for commenting and rating DEMOS not modules, not pictures -- so why movies?

well. your right. but you could for example find C.A.P. TV here. It would be great to find also for example a "Demo Show" review like http://www.chscene.ch/demoshow.php here, imho.
Of yourse you could also make a side with all this "party and demos review" but why not here. so nobody have to search for such thing.

it´s all my little opinion about it ;) some more comments from other sceners would be nice.

pouet.net called "demoscene resource senter".
For me also "demo-Review-Shows" or films on TV or films about a funny games at the party place. (coca cola body crashing, for example) are kind of scene productions. this all belongs together, imho. not only demo, intros, etc.

btw: "C.A.P._TV_-_Demos.Of.A.New.Decade" was shown on the bigscreen at SE2K2 :-D

dont forget about diskmags, c-intros and collies.. this is for rating scene productions whenever it is..

Well, I don't think adding a misc platform would be a good idead, maybe a new type, like scene stuff; miscelaneous or just stuff ?

A small precision about pouet.net:
- type=demo/intro/cractro/...
- platform=amiga/atari/linux/...

Or another choice, adding nothing and let the misc party stuff handled by some other site like slengpung for the pictures...

photos and videos can be hardly considered a scene productions unless these are edited movies or photo-collections.. however special music releases (not just modules but releases by scene music groups) just like musicdisks or collections could be called scene-releases.

macaw: Aha...Nice to read... ;-) Hope the visitors of SE2k2 enjoyed the wild-show then at least a bit somehow! ;-)))
Thanks for writing this information down here that I got to know about it as well. Have you been there at SE2k2 as well ?

For the topic here:
Well, I think that wouldn't be a bad idea. Diver is right with his posts about 'scene related things also fitting onto this site in a kinda 'misc/(scene)stuff' section as well ...
When I added the Demo Decade video I had to choose 'WilD!' just because it wouldn't have fit into any other category of course. Although it wasn't an official 'WilD-Entry' at TP last year. So I would have preferred to choose 'misc' or anything like that better...

Bye,
Weasel

...btw: I'd really appreciate to gather some more serious comments on the demo decade show of any people not having added any comment(s) yet...
This would really help me a LOT for the whole future ongoings of my planned projects.
So thanks a lot in advance for any sceners doing so soon... ;-)

I want a "dxm" platform and a "stefan" + the ordinary "elite" platform (ofcourse all of theese shall be linked together :) since i think they are much more detailed.

the cool thing about that cap-tv-demoshow-cd is that you don't need a doctor-driver (you know, a sober guy) to show the demos, you just copy the CD to HDD and double-click and VOILA!
Macaw: Easy as that....right! ;-) That's one of the advantages for sure.
Well, tell me more about SE2k2...would like to know how the party was in general...Was it worth it? How many sceners/people have been there anyways this time?

Bye,
Weasel

uhm, there were only 150-200 attenders at SE2K2 (atleast it looked like that) and there were room for ~300. But it seemed that most of these were particpating in the demo-scene-compos in one way or other.

SE2K (Scene Event aka Summer Encounter aka alot of things) has this nice festival-feeling since people sleep in tents, eats from bbq and more or less party 24h during the whole party.

Only thing missing this year were some more visitors, as the main organizer put it : "if we don't have more pre-registrants next year, we'll have to cancel" and that's a shame since it has been a tradition since 1995 for the danish demoscene (and wannabe's like .nl and .no and .se sceners) to come here and hangout in a vacation-like atmosphere!

Oh yearh, don't be scared by the "high entrance price" since this price also covers the meat, salad, bread and sauce for the barbeque held friday night (and that's some REALLY good food - better than the standard sausage and bread one tends to bbq!)

^^ most positive partyreview i've ever made! :-D
that's cool and all rasmus, but perhaps a bit off topic?, well ill be there next year also thats for sure.
schedule the party during a weekend and i'll come for sure next year ..

why make 4 days parties during the week ??

macaw: us dutch people are supposed to pimp the se event dammit. And don't you dare call us .nl sceners SE wannabes, some of us exceed your 1337-veteran-SE'ness by far ;)

florent: don't be a wuss, and plan se2k3 ahead -simply mail the organizer team to ask if they'd send you a message when they have a final date ready, and schedule it early into your short holiday list \o/
