Is there a term for when someone gets excited about someone else doing work?

How about a term for assuming everyone is into the same fad as you?

apple has no ryzen chips in their machines, so as an apple user I compare intel to m1 and I don't care about ryzen

Similarly, as a non-Apple user I don't care about M1. Can we stop evangelising minute technicalities about our appliances now? I mean, I could go on and on about the amazing properties of the heating element in my toaster, and how you should all bake bread in a way that makes the the most out of this particular heating element, but ...

Does that include the >1 billion iOS devices that now have effectively the same hardware? A lot of those are older, but I bet a good half or so are pretty capable.

Fortnite 1080p 43-49 FPS

most of Unity games on Rosetta 2
1080p-1440p 30-40 FPS(50 on minimal graphic)

Dota 2 45FPS 1080p

(Overwatch Frostpunk Doom(2016) and other complex DX11/Vulkan games obviously does not work)

this is literally same or slower than AMD Vega 8 like I say before, when Vega 8 performance is around 8800GTX from 2006 year

AMD Vega8 launch Doom 2016 with 30-40 FPS(720p) and GTA5 on medium with 60FPS 1080p... so ye

who is going to be the first ?

So this is about compiling for ARM or what? Don't get what is so special about that. I've done that back in the days with my A5000. And now it's done gazillion times of the day: Android.

Not just that... it’s a very fast (considering it’s a low power laptop chip) cpu, and a very fast (for integrated) GPU with some interesting features, and it also has a bunch of tensor cores and hardware HEVC encode/decode...

Basically it could be an interesting platform if you want some interesting modern hardware with a not so fast GPU 🤷‍♀️

Things might get more interesting next year when desktop class chips arrive, who knows.

A cheap laptop with Ryzen and Vega will do the same. And on the plus side - you can use D3D12 ;-)

This is probably a fair bit faster, and has tensor cores, and why would you want dx12 when you can have metal? :D

But if you're making a demo, why would you want either when you can have a desktop with a high end desktop GPU? If you want a laptop and can work with macOS it's relevant, but not many of us are going to be interested in m1... probably me and a couple of others (I work on iOS so I know the hardware well already)

they achieved that not for nothing...
Big things coming in 2021/2022 32 HighPerformance-Cores and 128 GPU-Cores :)
We will see who is laughing in the end...as I told you...gamechanger...remark this!

;-)
Can I ban you if you don't deliver an M1 demo to prove your point until 2021?

Oh come on. The M1 is one hell of a CPU already (regardless what you might think about the rest of Apple), and threatening to ban someone who's enthusiastic about a new piece of tech on a kinda tech enthusiast website? REALLY?

That "kinda" is doing a lot of heavy lifting in that sentence in all the wrong ways.

On the most basic level I absolutely don't see the point of someone jumping around a piece of hardware (be it Apple or Commodore or whatever) without the intention of using it, on a website that is - and let's get a better definition here - about making things. There's a difference between someone bringing up something and going "well this is interesting" and perhaps igniting some novel discussion about the pros and cons of it, but the repeated "WELL I WILL BE PROVEN RIGHT (BY SOMEONE ELSE)" is not contributing anything to the discussion and DEFINITELY not contributing anything to the scene itself.

I was also earlier alluding to the higher level argument to be made about a prevalent attitude in the scene about not only waiting for other people to do things but being indignant about the prospect of them NOT doing it.

Which if we're honest can be said about a lot of threads here. Not disputing the point you make, just your reaction.

Patience runs out sometimes, but I'm aware that I should be held to higher standards as an admin than the users.

I hope it uses Korg M1 sounds, the upcoming killer apple m1 demo...

Are you seriously threatening someone with a ban for being enthusiastic about a new cpu?

This is disturbing behaviour.

Not seriously, no.

it was not a threat but a question :D
Side note: is there a name for the fallacy of comparing stuff that’s shipping to next years model?

Probably "game changer" works?
