Why did only 142 people voted for the „Best of Party“-award?

There are way more but most of them in the single digits.

Thank you all for a wonderful party with loads of excellent entries and shaders and what not! <3 had a blast, more subdued than usually, but that was a good thing <3

Was long past overdue for an epic Scene lore moment, and it was delivered in the most hilarious way imaginable, including all the surprise, anger, emotion, cynicism, despair, confidence, unity, laughter and subsequent memes. Gaming streams might get yeeted from Twitch due to angrily yelled Gamerwords, but the Scene goes out in style ... with good ol' wiggling butt cheeks while a Laser-stag is tearing down ray-marched corporate structures ... priceless. Followed by the "Hack ze Gibson" moment of CCC coming to the rescue to save the entire event.
This story will be told for years to come!
There wasn't a single competition that went dud. Massive kudos to the guys running the backend of the entire operation, spanning Lord knows how many time zones!

However...
Next year I want to put on them travel boots and make the pilgrimage to Saarbrücken in order to meet all you crazy nutjobs again at the bonfire! Preferably bared arsed XD
Let's cross fingers that all this insanity will get sorted out by then.

TL&DR: Thank you.

The Revision experience is a bit like a tunnel: after getting enough food and drink supplies, I enter it on Friday as I close the curtains, turn the projector on, and actively forget about social media, news, whatever is going on in the rest of the world, and I get on the other side on Monday after the last online chats are over. I've now returned to real life, that strange world that has little to do with the eerie experience I just inflicted myself and which some parts of my body are still recovering from.

There's too much to say about this year's Revision, and every year I'm impressed by the level of quality you manage to achieve. This year is no exception. Some bits were not as good as last year, some bits were better... as usual it's hard to tell what are the ingredients that make the alchemy work or not. Maybe a lot of it has to do with chance at this point.

But for me, this was the best Revision in the last few years.

It was one of the memorable editions. It was one where you'd say "This Revision was good!" "Of course it was, it's Revision." "No, I mean, this Revision was good."

So thank you for everyone involved, both the orga team and the groups who contributed to the compos and events.

I really really hope to see you all in Saarbrücken next year. <3

it was a really great party, with amazing compos and flawless organising. many, many thanks to everyone involved!

since, i suppose, the organizers will go through this thread to pick up feedback, here's a small point, which was already addressed by truck once during his moderation: could you please not disown irc, and continue including ircnet #revision into your party info? not everyone has moved to discord, and not everyone will. during and after the party, i was asked by several irc-only scene friends what the official party channel is, and some were sad that they didn't know it beforehand and could not join any irc channel to chat about the compos.

Entertainingly, the bot announcing the entries was working on IRC but not on Discord.

The Twitch ban was justified. Insults and defamation in the chat against foreigners, gays and other cultures should never be tolerated and the rules on Twitch were tightened some time ago, especially with regard to nudity. One of our team mates was briefly on the stream and didn't read anything other than expletives and insults. It's really a shame that the tone of the scene has been so depraved in recent years. Instead, it is better to focus on the actual content.
You are kidding, right? You want to ban the stream operator because individual chat users are misbehaving by posting offensive messages? Might as well ban all of Twitch then, because you'll find offensive posts on pretty much every public stream with past 1k simultaneous visitors / chatters. That's ridiculous. It's not a problem that originates from either the demoscene or the party host.

Although I feel the Twitch chat is kinda unnecessary, since we got so many other communication platforms already, Discord being the latest in the list but there is also IRC, Telegram, you name it ... Twitch isn't really needed as a chat platform as it suffers from the spammy nature of comments as you described above.

What's great about it is the ability to replay a competition and see the reactions / emotions that are happening in the chat. Same goes for SceneSats reLIVE. It's a great way to preserve the atmosphere.

that is true, yeah. I didn't think of that when I wrote the above. I'm curious, was the chat moderated at all? Probably not an easy task given how frantic the action gets during competitions.

I felt that, during the party, the atmosphere over at Discord was mostly very friendly. Wild, yes, but not nearly as spammy as on Twitch where I followed the chat the previous year. All in all it was a very pleasant experience.

It was an amazing party overall, watching the compo stream online with others was a lot of fun! Thank you for organizing it! <3

We had moderation, yes. But as you said it's hard to moderate the amount of people.

Did someone already mention that the voting interface was a bit confusing when it came to party favorite since the box highlight color was the same color as the voting stars?

Beyond that, wow, what an amazing experience, great work all, especially to the participants who made a ton of incredible compos this year <3

From what i know meanwhile and after a bunch of internal discussions over the whole weekend, our chatmods had a shitload to do handling insults and yes, sometimes they could have done better. But they are not the ones to blame.
The amount of messages was insane and we now know, that there is an elephant in the room no one really likes to talk about init?

Im with D.Fox, i love watching the chat reactions during competitions - i always did.
Thats why scenesat implemented the relive function.

Anyhoo...Our Moderators hat a shitload to do over this weekend and there really have been things going on, that cant be tolerated in NO FUCKING WAY and especially not with "hes just drunk...dont take this too serious"

Yeah fuck me. I do.

And fuck you, if you dont get this:

We have a team of UNPAID high professional volunteers, handling expensive high professional PAID hardware, take holidays just to work our asses off for the (from our perspective) most priceless, most valueable communitiy on this effin´planet - and there still are people around who treat all this efforts with disrespect by spreading insults, sexism and worse.

And all of the weekend i thought Twitch was to blame because the dont get our content. Nah...they got it.

And now we learn that is was the fucking, rude chat trolls?!

Im sick and tired of all this sexism, homophobic, alc and drug driven shit and yes:
If i could code i would for sure "make a demo about it" and if you need all this just
"go make your own party."

Show respect - or just stay the fuck off our lawn.

Just my personal 50 cents. Not an official Revision Statement.
So i claim all the incoming hate. Its mine. My preciouussssss....
