category: general [glöplog]

Your favorite Deadline will return! (Photo courtesy by KeyJ and Wej)

All details will be announced in due time, but be prepared for:
* high quality bigscreen and sound-system
* new and oldschool competitions (as always from the real HW!)
* great musical acts and DJs
* cozy athmosphere, meeting your friends in person again
* retro-gaming tournament
* seminars and workshops (TBA)
* live stream of the whole event (remote entries allowed)
* big outdoor area with possibility to camp

Mark the 8th to 10th of October in your calendar and get working on those releases - to be presented in full glory on the bigscreen! :)

Some announcements, while we're still working on the website to be updated:

  • Compos: Same compos as in 2019, check the old website. The three-dee compo (anaglyph glasses) will return and also the retro-gaming-championship.
  • The theme for the themed photo compo will be: United
  • Did you work on something amazing within the last two years that you want to present as a seminar or workshop to a bigger audience? We have free seminar slots available! Contact us at contact(at)demoparty.berlin
  • Same goes for shader showdown, we need coders who are up for the challenge, if you want to make it happen! :)
  • This year we're also not able to provide a sleeping area, but you can camp on the big outside meadows if you want (or book a hotel, or crash at a Berlin scener's place ;)

We will only allow vaccinated people to participate in person:
Why are we doing this? As party organizer you need to think about which risks you're ready to take and what you want to do to provide a party that is as safe as possible. Being sure that everybody is vaccinated gives us the best chances that nobody will die because they got infected with covid on our party. That means all orgas (and hopefully also the visitors) can sleep well at night. We hopefully don't have to impose this rule next year, but this year we're gonna roll with it.

Apparently a lot of people seem to have a lot to discuss regarding this topic and this is fine, but we also want to do some actual party announcements and we don't want these to get lost between the discussion, therefore:

  • Please continue the vaccination policy related discussion in the other thread.
  • Please keep this thread for actual party related discussions.
Thanks.

Some more updates:

4k executable graphics compo confirmed - Multiplatform
We're pleased to confirm the 4k exe graphics compo, as already multiple people told to bring a release. To spice it up, all kind of platforms are allowed. So prepare your entries and be prepared for a nice competition :)

Lockdown Demoshow
In the past one and a half years many parties happened online - which brought us amazing releases - and a lot of us probably did not have had the chance to experience them on a big screen, with a massive sound system. Therefore we will compile a nice set of demos to enjoy as they're meant to be enjoyed: On the Big Screen. Kill all audio and lights. It's demo time!

Update on official regulations in Berlin:
Today the Berlin Senate allowed clubs to open again, for vaccinated (or recovered) people. We're therefore very positive that we will be able to do the party and will update you on the final safety concept in a 2-3 weeks.

Also the website and registration/ticket options will come really soon (pinky promise)
