Deadline 2021 | October, 8th - 10th | Party announcements

category: general [glöplog]
Just a bit of info for potential British-born or based visitors to this and other parties, largely gained from very recent personal experience:-

In order to get back to the UK afterwards, a negative Covid-19 test WILL be needed, sadly a self-test won't be acceptable. It'll need to be taken by a trained medical professional based, hopefully, at a mobile or other nearby pharmacy. You'll need to give your mobile phone number and an email address in order to receive the results. Lateral flow tests are the cheaper ones offered and the cost of these is no more than 25 euro. You'll be able to download the results to a PDF file so this can be uploaded to your travel booking if required.

It'll be best to organize taking the tests as soon as you can, rather than running the risk of missing flights / trains and having to buy another transportation ticket.

Hopefully the results should be back within an hour at most. Mobile phone UI is quite fiddly so we ended up using a laptop to get these.

Hopefully v3nom and the other orgas will be able to organize suitable arrangements. I just wanted to bring this to everyone's attention.

Good advise Felice, I would read the advise here https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/germany/entry-requirements on entry requirement's into Germany and https://www.gov.uk/guidance/travel-to-england-from-another-country-during-coronavirus-covid-19 on entry requirements into the UK. Things are likely to change short notice I would book flights / accommodation with good cancellation policies if things change.

Even though you don't need a test to enter Germany if double vaccinated when I went to Germany last month they still asked for a test so I would recommend doing a test anyway.
As for getting back I took a took a pcr test at the airport but a antigen test would also work just make sure it's in English if it's in German you won't be allowed into the UK.

See you all at deadline I can't wait.
So this is actually happening?..

Here's an update regarding the corona concept of the party.

Current situation in Berlin:
* Since 3 weeks clubs are open again in Berlin, without any mask mandate or distance rules, but only if people are vaccinated or recovered (what's called "2G Regelung" in Germany)
* Since this week the Berlin Senat ruled that this regulation will be implemented for all kinds of events. If events decide to only let vaccinated/recovered people in (2G), no masks or distance rules are mandated anymore, for events up to 25k people.
* This fortunately did not lead to an increase in corona cases, as numbers are stagnating / currently slightly going down in Berlin

-> That means, from an official standpoint we're good to go doing a normal in-person demoparty as we did in previous years. However we still think there are a lot of reasonable actions we can take, to further minimize the risk of infections and to make everyone feel safe when attending Deadline. Therfore we decided to implement the following

Measures at Deadline:
* No ticket sales at the door, only pre-bought tickets available (to make contact tracing and handling at the infodesk easier), but now we don't have to have a strict limit anymore
* immunization state will be rigorously checked at the door/impfodesk upon check-in (if possible bring a digital certificate, because it speeds up the process)
* Please refrain from coming when you're not feeling well or have any covid-related symptoms. Just write us a mail and we will fully reimburse your entry-fee, no questions asked.
* We will provide free self-tests at the infodesk, so that you can test yourself when you come or before you head back. (thanks to Underground Conference for providing these!)
* No mask obligation, but we will nevertheless provide free masks at the impfodesk and at the dancefloor for everybody to use as they see fit.
* We will make use of the new ventilation system the ORWOHaus has in place. On it's maximum level, it can exchange the air of the whole hall within around 10 minutes.
* We will provide buttons with different colours which you can use to indicate your preferration for human contact (eg. green= hugging ok, yellow = I'd like to keep some distance, red = stay away)
* We will provide additional tables to offer some opportunities for people who like to keep some distance to find a separate place, while groups can of course still sit together. (this is of course somewhat limited by the space available, but we'll do our best)
* Of course there will be hand-sanitizers ready at the infodesk, gaming area, toilets and bar
* We will hire an external cleaning service to do some extra rounds at the toilets during the party.

If you have any questions about this, don't hesitate to contact us at contact@demoparty.berlin.

Get your tickets now! ;) We look forward to partying with you!

Deadline T-Shirts deadline
We will need to place the T-Shirt order this week! Based on current orders and past data we will extrapolate the order so we should have enough for everyone (at least all pre-orders). Still, if you want a 100% guarantee, you should buy your ticket and/or shirt now.

Deadline T-Shirts, delivered
Did we mention already that you can get a shirt delivered to your place, even if you can't come to the party? You can order it here, it's 25€, including shipment. (vs. 20€ when you buy it on location or with your ticket)

and last but not least we want to share a small preview of the buttons we will provide at the impfodesk for free which you can use to indicate with which types of interaction you're comfortable with.

Two weeks left! Time to finish these sweet releases! (We heard a few rumours already of some very nice stuff being cooked up)

Can someone give an update on the sleeping situation :question mark:. We love to support the party and have a proper sleep. Ostberlin, I hear you calling.

Deadline forever in our hearts,

Re Sleeping:

As already written earlier, unfortunately we can't offer the sleeping-hall on location this year (because unlike the main hall, it doesn't have proper ventilation).
So you could either stay in a hotel or air'b'nb or sth., or maybe you know a scener in Berlin you could crash at.

There are two hotels in walking distance:
* Comfort Hotel Lichtenberg (15mins walk - around 65€/night)
* ibis Budget Berlin Ost (30mins walk - around 50€/night)

Of course there are lots of more hotels in Berlin, which you could reach by Tram for example, or by sharing a taxi with some fellow sceners.

I forgot to mention that there is also the possibibility for camping in the ORWOHaus garden. Around the House there is a lot of green and the ORWO people allowed us to use it also for camping :)

To be honest, I think it's unfortunate that you can't buy tickets at the event. That might deter a few potential visitors, especially since there are no day tickets.

Well, pre-sale only is because we need to collect the personal data for contact tracing (will be deleted again 3 weeks after the party). Also the infodesk will have enough to do already checking the vaccination/recovery certificates.
But you can also buy via bank transfer if you don't have or like paypal.
Also if you can't make it, just write us and we will do a full re-fund, so there's no reason for not buying your tickets :)

Weird request I have been trying to buy a blahaj for over a year in the UK with no luck. They are now discontinuing them and the IKEA store near deadline is out of stock. If anyone going to deadline can buy me one I will be for ever grateful I can pay you back at the party.
PS if anyone has a vacuum sealer they could also bring so I can fit a giant stuffed shark on a plane that would be handy <3.
Taken care of! There will be sharks on a plane :D
