It's alright, Fizzer, Death already contacted me via email about this yesterday, but I don't recall what he was talking about.

If you sent me that email about writing code for the engine part of a PC port of Koronis Rift, then I cannot help as I never played that game, nor would my coding skills be up to par for a modern PC game remake.

Maybe if you linked to the original Atari Forum discussion to refresh my memory, I could elaborate upon what I posted.

Thank you for the quick reply Foebane72,

A very good day to you Sir,

I hope you are doing Well,

Subject : Code the 3D Terrain Engine of the Atari 800XL/130XE Version of the Game Koronis Rift

I would like to pay an Experienced Coder to Code the 3D Terrain Engine of the Atari 800XL/130XE Version of the Game Koronis Rift

A Youtube of this game can be found here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZczYJ5q6qF4

I do not wish to have any of the in game graphics elements like any of the Sprites etc etc

I do not wish to have any of the in game - Game Play Elements etc etc

All I want is the 3D Terrain Engine of the Atari 800XL/130XE Version of the Game Koronis Rift

All I want is for the 3D Terrain Engine to look exactly like the 3D Terrain Engine of the Atari 800XL/130XE Version of the Game Koronis Rift

All I wish is to be able to roam about endlessly in the 3D Terrain Engine

I would like to be able to use the Keyboard Direction Keys to move about in the 3D Terrain Engine

If you wish, you may allow for both the Mouse and Keyboard Direction Keys to move about in the 3D Terrain Engine

Please code only in the C programming language

Please do not code in the C++ programming language

Please keep the code as simple as possible

Please add full documentations for each section or module of the code

Please use a Height Map for the Terrain Generation

I would like for the Engine to be developed in the Watcom C++ 11.0c Compiler

I would like for the Engine to be developed in the SDL Library

I will provide both the Watcom C Compiler as well as the SDL Library

I will provide a Watcom C Project File that already contain a SDL Code that is working

I will pay USD $50 for this Coding Job

Would you like to take up this Project Sir ?

Hope to hear from you soonest

Thank you very much for your time and kind help

Kind regards as always

I'm afraid I cannot accept, as my C coding abilities are not up to snuff and it's been decades since I programmed my only C project (Neo Geo in MS-DOS, written in DJGPP), which happened to be a fractal landscape generator, and that was more of a novelty and to see how fast C was, and I don't know the game, as I said, nor could optimise it for real-time in Windows.

However, when it comes to coding needs, you've come to the right place, as Pouet.net represents hundreds of talented coders who are experienced and do this sort of thing for fun, so I'm sure they'd love to oblige you.

:)

Have you considered wipping something up yourself using Blender with a heightmap and game mode?

I don't mean to make assumptions, but I don't even know who the OP is, he emailed me out of the blue yesterday and referred to an old Atari Forum post I've most likely completely forgotten, and asked me then what he asked me here today.

I agree, sounds like an utter pittance to me.

I'll do it of you slap maali with an Atari 800XL/130XE

Wow, Pouët upgraded to dirt cheap outsourcing services now?

I mean, in terms of writing a voxel landscape, how much would it take? :D 25 minutes? :D $50/hr is not even bad.

Well the time-consuming part is that it has to "look exactly like the 3D Terrain Engine of the Atari 800XL/130XE Version of the Game Koronis Rift".

In 25 minutes I haven't even started sipping on my coffee, leave alone setting up a customer project. With a finnicky customer ("looks exactly like...") this sounds like a two weeks affair, so net 7500 EUR with a slight rebate. And Watcom C, what the heck is that.

This thread is quite entertaining - you somehow got the attention of some very kickass coders with it

I agree with bifat - if you take this job be prepared for an endless back and forth before reaching a consensus about that "it's done".

Lol, it's not like this person will ever post again.

If he did, why he has to write a private message through this forum?

I wouldn't be surprised if it's Foebane72 talking to himself...
for various reasons, maybe simply to get attention or to keep us entertained.

Cos I ignored the email deliberately. I didn't think he'd start stalking me.

I did delete the email soon after I got it, but I've recovered it now and it points to a post this guy started on AVForums:
https://www.avforums.com/conversations/may-i-please-kindly-ask-if-you-are-willing-to-write-me-a-pc-version-of-the-3d-engine-of-koronis-rift.4633431/

I had a quick look at Atari Forums for the original post, but haven't found it yet. Haven't been on that forum for many a year.
