Hello,

This may seem like a strange request at the moment, but I promise that it is demoscene related! I am looking for someone who can help me translate some parts of an old book (or two) from the 19th century which were written in Chinese (and in China). So far any machine translation I've tried to use has given me nonsense or has been too difficult for me to use. I know very little about any of the forms of Chinese spoken or written languages in use now or two centuries ago, and it would be awesome to find that we have someone in the scene who is knowledgeable enough to help.

I realise that this might be a bit of a stretch since I am really asking for someone active in the demoscene who is fluent in both English and Chinese, and who is also something of a historian. :) But it can't hurt to ask, right?

I don't want to reveal too much as it would spoil the release that I'm working on. It's a demoscene-related request because it would help me to correctly apply a theme that I want to have in a demoscene release.

I've sort of decided that I'm probably not able to implement the theme in a satisfactory anyway and I'll go for something plainer / more neutral. You'll see what this was all about once the release is done and, well, released.

I'll ask my wife tonight just in case (she is Chinese....And no I don't really speak chinese) I already know her answer like every chinese people she is very busy :).So I really don't think she'll translate a whole book..But if it were about a page or two then she might..
But you are talking about translating a whole book right ? This sounds like huge work.. I don't think lots are able to do that let alone for free.

I can translate it. People already recognize me as an authority of translating ancient Chinese poetry and regularly ask me for translation on the streets of Shanghai. The translations are so accurate even I can't believe it.

I know another guy though who isn't quite as accurate as myself, but reads rather old Chinese poetry. If it isn't a very long text you aim to translate I can maybe ask him over dinner.

I'm not looking to translate a whole book per se, but at least the title page and the captions under pictures. I won't pay anyone (especially not on Fiverr) because it's a demoscene work.
