like azzaro and other people have mentioned, earlier compos and later concerts would be great :)

Also, please no fog/lights during VJ sets :(
Deadline and revision sets are actively absolutely ruined this way. It's not background visuals... It's so much effort preparing a show like this.
I get that the light equipment is expensive and is an artform, but most people don't give a shit about it - they are here for computer graphics on a screen.
Dark room + super bright projector makes the whole room be illuminated by it. The VJ becomes the lighting director. You can't get into it when it's a fight between the fog/lights and the screen, which the fog and lights always win.
There's a reason why lights are off during compos. You are 100% in the music and the visuals.

Maybe save the light shows for DJ sets without visuals?

I kinda agree with wrighter, the screen is the main act at demoparties - doesn't make sense to drown it in fog. Beamer rays in thick fog make a neat effect, but also show complete disrespect towards what's shown on the screen ;) I wouldn't go so far as to call any visuals ruined tho, 2-3 minutes delay in the script, until the fog dissolves, doesn't hurt most VJ shows.

If done sensibly, the conventional lighting can be a pretty cool addition to what's shown on the screen, but that implies only using very light haze, if any, and keeping colors & movement energy compatible with the visuals.

Visual artists who care should be welcome to talk to the person at the lighting console at any of the mentioned parties however, at least in my experience this person is very reasonable usually, and I think it's up to them to the VJs themselves to communicate their preference with regard to fog/lights properly beforehand, if they care.

It's a bit of a tough choice here, we do pay the supplier for the lighting equipment, and without any haze at all it doesn't really have much of an effect. I do agree though that we might be able to tone it down a little. This is admittedly the first time that I've heard anyone say something about this. I might be living under a rock somewhere, or it might just not have been communicated to me before.

I promise I'm very reasonable and don't bite (usually), any preferences or wishes are appreciated, both from VJs and DJs.

Aside from that, my brain has been playing with a bit of an idea how to integrate both lighting and VJ stuff into one thing. Not fleshed out yet and definitely (probably?) not happening this year, but I'll be working on something that might be a cool addition in the future.

Have a lot of fun there, sceners.
has someone been sitting on the golden disk for too long or why is it so smelly ??

after 15 years the kids are still not ready to handle the golden disk alone !

does the power within corrupt ?

will we finally see change or shall we keep hiding in holes ?

working on my release now !
why is there scampageddon every year ??

@scamp stop it ! people are not ready for a fresh start, they want to freeze in place

yes I know that eggs should not be stored in the fridge because this will harm the micro cosmos living on the shell

but the people do not want to learn - eggs bad ? just throw them away !

Sometimes visual artists inside the scene can be too shy to come ask !

when pixtur is doing live VJing your body should be moving by the music your soul protected by the mixing skills .... but if you want so sometimes open your eyes and see pixtur doing his crazy stuff there should be no distraction. no light ! haze the dancefloor, not the DJ

maybe use the chance of not having to manage light effects to take a break and go dance a bit yourself for funny healing ?

middle grounds sometimes are good - sometimes what you need is binary
@scamp has asked me to please forward this video link

please do not shoot the messnager !

The scamp has asked me to forward this video link of him to you people and add this informations text:

Potentially people are misunderstanding me because they
WANT to, but if not: I will give you an example on where I
am unhappy on the performance of problem solving in the
western world when it comes to gender inclusion and
diversity.

to state the obvious: considering revision is not about scamp, could we perhaps focus the discussion on this thread back to the event? or in the very least stop spamming it with irrelevant nonsense and let people focus on their entries for the party they are actually attending instead of whatever this derailment of nonsense has been. just a thought.

it is the bbs ... anyone can post here as long as they are not banned !

Since when does a bulletin board be clear and empty to be able to attachment a new message ?!

scamp wrote me that adding fb + insta + yt more sceners have viewed his videos than easter party has in total number of visitors left !!

Maybe it is so silent here because they have long lost most of the scene ?

( I will be coming anyway I now even more must see this life )
scamp: wow, didn't expect you to stoop so low.

Shouldn't the maximum file size for the oldskool music compo be somewhat less than "2MB (2097152 bytes)"?

No, it really shouldn’t :-) We increased it so that we aren’t excluding platforms that have an active chiptune scene on trackers like Furnace and LSDJ but don’t have readily available (and non-coder-musician friendly) tooling for crunching that down into size-constrained executables. More background in this thread.

How is active chiptune scene same as oldschool demoscene? Revision is still called demoscene party and the compo is called oldskool music compo.

(If you are using a cross-platform tracker such as Furnace, the file you deliver must be usable on the real hardware, not just within that tracker.)

This is where the definition gets a little sticky. While you might have the right config, your tune could be so packed full of stuff it's not even possible for the destination system to play it. Run out of ram or CPU time to stream the data for example.

I suppose the solution is to play it via a native VGM player, which at least most systems seem to have?
