FXChainPlayer with built-in live shader coding

category: general [glöplog]

hi all,
released a thing called FXChainPlayer. native audio player that
runs the usual HQ formats, a big pile of tracker formats,
console + arcade game music, SID... there's also full VST3 FX support and a DJ mode where you can mix any of those formats together, even a SID against an mp3 if you really want to.

Latest version adds a Live Shader Editor.
GLSL editor with a live preview, recompiles and hot-swaps while
the music keeps playing. FFT and raw waveform come in as
a texture so your shader can react to whatever's playing.

Please give it a try, it is still in beta. Feature requests and feedback are very welcome, and I will do my best to improve it.

Thought of adding MilkDrop/AVS support?

There is 64bit ports of those around.

Honestly the live GLSL / Shadertoy-style shader editor feels more in the demoscene spirit (code your own real-time effects), but I'll definitely take a look at projectM.

just released new version. improved SID Dj mode + rock-solid Atari support: SNDH / SND chiptunes play accurately and out of the box without plugin.
FXChainPlayer now also plays Musicline in its latest version. Additionally, TFMX and Pretracker 1 and 1.5 are now fully supported. thx pink! Pretracker 2 can even be played using a new wild experimental feature, as Amiga music executables can simply be dragged into the playlist and will just play.
