Thanks for bringing Jasper's works to my attention !

before I did the tbl/aardbei/threestate ones I actually did a couple of our own solar (or solar adjacent) prods:

https://solar-nl.github.io/we-aint-real-webgl/
https://solar-nl.github.io/adelanto-webgl/

(Adelanto is actually a nostalgia prod, with druid on code, released ±6 months before we ain't real, so they share some similar architecture)

Thank you! Keep 'em coming!

Insane work, guys! Watching with pleasure. Pure scene vibe here!

I don't know man. I used your engine to make demos. You know, human created computer art. Seeing you dive head first into AI just makes me sad, as you defile everything we've built over these decades.

Why are you even here anymore? You don't seem to give a fuck about the human aspect in art anymore. Looking for attention? Gratification? Acceptance?

@T-101 may I suggest that, maybe, you didn’t mention who you are talking to ? :)

ok, i'll bite. Considering I'm not the one who created three.js T-101's comment is probably directed at mrdoob, but still. With regards to the human aspect, I care deeply. I would not have published the ptct and lost vegas ports if I didn't get the go-ahead to publish from Inopia and Sagacity, who both were part of the original crews that created them.

I saw that psenough was kind enough to add credit for both ports to the original prods on demozoo, but that is something I feel uncomfortable about, as it's not about gratification or attention. For me doing them was partly about 'hm, I wonder if this can be pulled off' (eg, let's make a demo about it), and wanting to see the original code and algorithms running again, instead of looking at a capture.

Which engine do you mean exactly?

Yeah, I'm not comfortable about that either.

Exactly. I prefer watching a javascript port of a demo running in realtime than a youtube video of the original.

Well atleast the prods are not stolen for training data, just transformed using a tool. They are probably also still smaller than the YT video, and can be run realtime! :)

On a bit unrelated note IMO it's pretty amazing that it's possible to build a probabilistic model that can perform these transformations in a superficially intelligent way.

Of course if these are "transpiled" from C to JS I would be a bit suspicious if the transformation has actually succeeded properly, but then again it seems to me that recent models can do this kind of trivial translations between languages semi reliably and not engage in random "optimizations".
I am still asking why port these to a web page? Are these not possible to run anymore?

JSYK one of the accounts posting to this thread was created last night and has only posted in this thread.

Sockpuppet, much?

If only we had EU digital identity integration in Pouet, we could check if it's a legit account of some person and the conversation could go on the original topic! </s>

Mostly for Inopia’s ‘holy shit! How?’- reaction when I dm’ed him the link. ^_^

it;s the divide of the people that like spending money on Claude to see how these things work and the people that spend money on Claude to just generate garbo generative nonsense.

I despise "AI" in p much all versions, but I can see where Coat en Doob are coming from, and it's different than the amiga slop we've seen over the past few years in compos.

I like that this stuff is now running online, it's the same demos as before, just done with less craft and more help.

The credits on demozoo are absolute nonsense tho, this doesn't deserve any 'credit' in that aspect.

i'm surprised that getting credited for having done a port is an issue for the people who ported it, my best guess is that the issue is that with the crediting it might seem like you were involved with the original while you were not. personally i don't see it as an issue, since it lists clearly the credit is for the port work, but i'll discuss it with the rest of demozoo staff if i'm in the wrong and the best way to document the ports of things.

we do have other ports credited differently in the database, some only as a link on the prod notes for example. would feel worse to create a new database entry for the port alone, or not have it documented who and when it was made/released though. we'll discuss it and figure something out.

What port work? If you want to credit it properly, credit Claude.
