VMod

category: general [glöplog]
i want to commission/have a .mod trackers like fasttracker or modplug etc that enables additional import of avi/mov loops and perhaps .dxf model import etc all with code effects.....useable in the same way as an addition to all the traditional mod music trackers _this way we can share music video's with small file sizes .vmod format .mov?...... why isnt this happened already, will it happen or do i have to pay to make it happen?

er?
i reckon theres gonna be rain man!
you know what apocalypticlue, that's not a bad idea. We have demos already which are kinda like music videos (and those are highly compressed.) I would think the reason for that is there isn't a highly compressible video format for loops that would be effective as ".vmods" Possibly as an alternative, you could have support for .jpgs or .gifs or even vector formats tracked with the music.

I like your idea a lot actually but I have to ask why would you want this without some kind of method for tweens such as After Effects or Flash has? Just showing video loops is pretty dull. The tracker / player would have to have technologies in it that allows it to play with the included visuals.

Overall, not a bad idea though.. I can see great potential for such a product (especially with synching.) and I'm a true believer in the tracker formula compared to traditional notation.

mp3 and black backgrounds are killing the scene.

oops didn't see your "all with code effects" stipulation.

Not a bad idea

rebo: i'm sure with a good decoder running in dos on the latest machines could cope with it?
as with normal music .modules each sample has a code for volume/ramp etc etc for effects
i see no reason why this couldnt work with video
all the vj aps such as resolume work in realtime @ atleast 320x240....i agree the .mod tracker formula is THE BEST but the most important thing is that any trackers that are made/existing traditional .mod trackers that have this additional feature......that the file format is compatable amongst all of them as it is already with the music versions......i reccon we will be LUCKY!!!!!
ps and its not going to compete with VJ's because it would only work with .mod music QED ie no mp3 or wav so it would stay pure within the scene

I really like you, simply because you are wrong.

if it had scene/or dxf import/flyaround ability
then i reccon it will piss on anything and you'll never need another demo tool again..maybe?!
shifter, provide ample reasons supporting your argument that I'm wrong otherwise sit down... let's make this a learning opportunity for everyone

Sadly, we have another useful thread about future vision of the scene wasted by someone who cannot even formulate a decent response.

BASS to you too shifter.
