Mr. Twist - wtf was that analysis of Denmark/Århus?... only thing I can agree on is that the places you mention are nice - as are a lot of other places aswell.

But funny that you seem to have put your social life in such a tight frame here ;)

Anyway, we're still a bunch of sceners here in Århus, and we will surely be up for a beer or a million, just ask/demand/whatever.

puryx: he's more than right, with the exception of the sceners, århus (and any other danish city) has a hard time accepting foreigners.

or maybe it's just us norwegians..

i didn't move away for nothing you know

The danish people think I talk like this "HÖLEBÖLEÖLEBÖLE". They told me. Is it true that they can't communicate properly with each other and have to resort to english at times? I saw something like that happening once but I thought I didn't understand the situation properly.

Hej Mr Twist læser!

"Living in Hasle means Trillegården/wilh. Kiers kollegium. Move as soon as possible. Only plus is living near Thorsten. It's all downhill from there."

Mig kollegiet hedder "Herredsvej Kollegiet". It's built only last year. (Or did you mean I should move *to* Trillegården?)

"Don't go to the international student's centre tuesdays and thursdays. The evenings are incredibly boring."

Haha, well actually we all...whatever...

"Do not under any cirumstances try to befriend the spanish people unless they are in Stravaganza."

There are enough nice polish girls anyway.

"There are generally three places to go out: Musikcaféen, Sjokoladefabriken and most of all Kupé. Under Masken is great for talk-only evenings."

Cool, tak skal du have.

"If you want danish girls, don't even bother to be sophisticated about it. As a matter of fact, sophistication will get you nowhere."

Okay, I haven't met any danish girls as yet since we only hang around with other exchange students...I hope this change soon though, and thanks to you I'm fully prepared for it now ;)

"Since nothing happens during the week,"

oh that's not true, I mean in the kollegiets there's something going on each day...

"Whatever you do, don't go to "Social Club"."

owned

"It's not social and hardly a club. Only exception is from 23 to 24 as the beer is free then. Just remember to get out after twelve."

But for that it's fine I think. :-)
(You are still right in every aspect of of your words).

"If you have sophisticated habits, good taste andr style, don't bother to make an issue out of it. In denmark you're better off socially conforming to the mediocre."

Oh, I'm fine with that. :)

"Mail me if you want detailed information or feel like your life sucks."

asap og mange mange tak!

I can't find an email-adress from you so please drop me a mail...maybe we can have a bbq at the beach (if it's allowed and possible) as long as the weather is so tropical ;)

violater: That is very true actually, it is more and more common especially amongst danish teenagers to use more and more english words in regular sentenses.

Globalisation and current pop culture is probably to blame for this, while I can't speak for the teenagers and others who use it extensively, I can speak for myself and say, that I have often found myself in a conversation, where I have thought of and sometimes even used an english word, because it just expressed something better than whatever danish words I was thinking about at the time.

Is this abondoning of my primary language or an optimal use of my knowledge of foreign language to express something? Who knows...

Nina: arh, er vi så slemme? :)

Leia: there are tons of reasons for disliking another country than your home country, but saying something like "the sceners in denmark are nice people and club x and club y are nice, otherwise the people are hard to get to and the weekdays are boring" is like saying "only sceners and a few clubs are cool in the whole wolrd"... and well... I think that's just a bit vague.

At least you stayed for some time - but of course one will always (almost always) like his/her home-country more than "foreign" countries.

selectanovel: I can be reached a chr (at) 3kings (dot) dk - sadly I think I'm already booked for the next couple of weekends ;)

In my experience, Danes are a pretty goddamn stubborn lot and quite a bit harder to mingle with successfully than many other Europeans. I always assumed it was because they confused me for a German or Belgian, and therefore never felt personally insulted or even surprised about the indifference I experienced. But now that I've learned that they mistrust even their fellow knackebrod-munching Pandinavians, I must conclude they truly are xenophobes of the most utterly retarded category. I mean, it's as if the Swiss would be complaining about the Austrians, while everyone listening knows they're all a bunch of mountain-Krauts anyhow. Sheesh.

i totally agree with all the points made above, with regards to denmark sucking gigantic goat ass. everyone know that Sweden is far superior to anything denmark has ever turned out.. Also, Sjokoladefabriken seems like it is swedish, not danish!

However the fat girls in denmark are pretty cheap, and i would like to recommend them, for their nasty habits and "3 beers per fuck" policy - i am known as "The Danish Whalehunter".

Also selectanovel, sorry once again for flipping on you for that mail :) i'll still buy you a beer anytime, if you are indeed that german guy i gave my addy at BP! :)

"random swedish lamer" (perhaps named Nicolai) has once told me a tour pass to Aros is the way to score in Århus...

Hi again all. Once again I've managed to rob myself to some hotwire and can take part in this wonderful thread.

pyrux: I get your point, but you're danish and probably don't get mine :P I have such a wide scope that I realised Århus is a sucky town :) Nothing personal, because you were one of the few people who didn't make it so at all.

Nico: you're the best. Come up here :)

novel: Trillegården is most of upper Herredsvej. If it's not the same kollegium, it's one metre away from it. It's 4km out of town, for god's sake :) bus..expensive..time consuming...Note that for premium women, great coffee and generally nice atmosphere "Siegfred's Kaffebar" is the right place to hang. Thorsten can maybe show you were it is. Also, "Cafe Hack" is also decent and has a great name.

Skrebbel: I fear so, yes :)

Danish sceners in general: It's not that I'm from another country and don't like the way things work in Denmark because it's another country. As a matter of fact, I usually more disapprove of Norway. It's somewhat a cultural collision. One I haven't had in South Africa, Germany, Israel or wherever I've been.

I absolutely do not wish to offend you guys, and you know I think you're a much better stock than the average dane. But Denmark is backwards._Especially_ when it comes to norwegians.

There seems to be some sort of superiority complex around that dates back to earlier times. Times have changed.

And one thing you actually do better than anyone else is managing your welfare system. Thumbs up for that :)

whale welfare you mean?

well technically i don't have to write another thing in here because reid has done it all already (with the exception that i haven't been to south-africa or israel)

but i just wanted to point out that _no_ it's not because i think my home country is so great and cool and what not, if that was the case i would never have moved out of it in the first place. after all, i HAVE been more or less "on the run" from norway since summer 2001.

and yeah, it's not personally about you guys who actually write something here, you were indeed (mostly ;) of the better types, the ones that made my stay worth something, at least :)
