ive done it all
and now alas i am left asking the question
why?
making demo's and setting up demo scene sites etc etc
why??
i guess its just a hobby?
but why?
ok it makes u feel better for a while a little bit of recognision from your girlfriend etc and a bit of self expression but thats about it
i think alot of people are just doing it to prove they can, to be popular?

Relax with a White Russian:
Type: short (IBA version)
Alcoholic level: alcoholic
Basic liqueur: Vodka
Equipment: directly in the glass
Glassware: Old Fashioned
Garnish: undecorated
Ingredients
5/10 Vodka
3/10 coffee liqueur
2/10 cream
How to make it
Place some ice cubes in the glass and add vodka and coffee liqueur. Mix for 6-8 seconds with the bar spoon and float the cream, half-whipped, on top. Don't mix again!
Serve undecorated. The cocktail is ready.
Variations
You can prepare this cocktail, that is an after dinner, in the small goblet too!

"I want to write something that will change people's perception of reality. I want them to walk away from the computer dazed, unsure of their footing and eyesight. I want to write something that will reach out of the screen and grab them, making heartbeats and breathing slow to almost a halt. I want to write something that, when it is finished, they are reluctant to leave, knowing that nothing they experience that day will be quite as real, as insightful, as good. I want to write demos."

because you don't need to use powerpoint anymore to create presentations
to show people what inferior hw (read: c64) can do
most people from outside the scene don't get why someone would spend so much effort and skill into something that will not generate any money. may be that's why there are so few american sceners.
coding demos is the obvious thing you end doing if you are coding just for fun. games is a popular alternative, but most hobbyist game projects fail because of time and complexity.
even a simple demo done by a beginner can be presented to the demoscene, released at a small party, shown at a big screen before an audience, and then you're hooked!
