Oh should quickly mention Gyr's good work in getting the online .au compo running each and this year..

Just for the record, the .au xmas compo is usually run by ript and the rest of disaster area. We (Kaolin) ran it last year only because ript didn't seem to be around anymore.

If anyone does actually get into contact with ript, tell him to answer his emails :)

I'm an Australian scener in Sweden does that count :P

Its so annoying that i've been waiting like 6 years for a demoparty to happen in Perth and the time that it finally does is the time that i'm not there :(

Definatly going to Breakpoint, Assembly etc so hopefully i'll see you at one of them gaiaSword and if not i'll have to represent the Australian scene by myself :) (or are there any other Australian sceners going to any parties in europe?) Also are there any swedish sceners in Lund going to Breakpoint?

Hopefully nullabor will help to create some scene activity in Australia and good luck.

MarvinPA: Of course that counts! :D

Is'nt there any demo-party in Sweden at all?
MarvinPA: You know some? coz the www.scene.se is closed for members-only, but how the **** to be a member?!?!?

I have for many years being recruiting people into the scene, and it is hard. I have found a few (for my group - Affinity), and i try to promote it as much as possible as well. There are a few problems to the scene in .au:--

- Distance (mentioned above), as I am in Perth, it is like 3500km to the next large city !.
- Currently there is not much exposure to the scene (ie, people are more interested in playing WOW).
- Parties. - Due to the distance, it is very hard to get people form opposite coasts to turn up. (due to cost and distance).
- No Outside influences.. As .au is on the opposite side of the world, (where in Europe the scene rocks), it is nearly impossible (and very expensive) to interact with other countries scenes (even difficult with NZ). The cross-polloniation is important as it can give different perspectives to the creation process.

I would love to go to Breakpoint at Easter, but i can't, due to lack of funds. But i hope all the .au guys who are going will havea great time.

As with Nullabor, as the demo scene section organisers, the reason for no Wild/Music etc.. is that currently, the lack of prices, and also manpower/resources. we will see how it goes for this year, and then Nullabor 2007 shoudl have all the traditional competitions. (and on a weekend as well :) ) . Currently the demo part of Nullabor is a "Test Vehicle" to see how it goes :) Should be good.
start some local scene booze meetings kinda thing.
atleast you'll have ppl watching demos and socializing more. which hopefully will result in more productivity or something :/

*still recovering from boozetuga 0x43 that happened last night with total 14 people (new record for .pt scene 1 day booze meetings) watching demos at my place O_O* people were talking about wanting to attend parties and how navis/asd is completly insane.

hmm.. I'm still around... :D

Barely tho, I think life just caught up and the scene here has slowed down something chronic.. still got a few projects in the pipeline that will one day be coded...

Hey look it's sh0ck!

Yes, you need to make a return visit for BP07 so you can see the new facilities and such. (I will assume 06 is out of the question at this point due to ticket prices and whatnot.)
Heheheh... I'll try and make it to BP07... after all 03 rocked hard... :D

Hmm.. who else is in Melbourne in our somewhat dead scene.. I wonder if we can get a demoparty happening... guess make it more of a computer art exhibition and get some funding ;)

Yeah, I'm gonna try and keep up with the news around here these days..

I'll see if Wyre is interested in doing summat... but you should just try the pubmeet thing (: It tends to work (:
Ronald: So then how exactly does this pub thing work ?? (there is a pub at nullabor :) )..

Melbourne used to have a few groups in the old days. I know in perth we had a few (all of my groups, Devious Designs, Ikon Visual, Liberty, Kronical, and a few others).
