Can I ban you if you don't deliver an M1 demo

"Ban for inactivity" could be an interesting concept, though... ;)

make subscribe model for M1 demos, and ban with deleting all demos for unsubscribing
why - because we in Apple thread

Fun fact of the day: I really like the Metal API. The problem is Objective-C, an exercise in self-inflicted eye cancer. Holy shit, this language is shit. I'd rather stick a fork into my eyes than use that eye bleed once again in my live.

with just random CPUs... great, might as well add a frozen turkey and a nut of the rear left wheel of a Renault Megane in the mix!

In these benchmarks I show the fastest SIMD configuration for the Intel CPUs. The i7-1165G7 has AVX512, allowing ISPC to run 16 “threads” in parallel and Embree to use up to AVX512. The i7-4790K supports AVX2, allowing ISPC to run 8 “threads” in parallel. On the M1 it is possible to use ISPC to compile a double-pumped NEON target, i.e., 8-wide SIMD execution on the 4-wide NEON registers, however I found that ISPC’s 4-wide target performed best. Embree on the M1 is configured to use AVX2 on NEON, as Embree is quite optimized for 8-wide SIMD.

I live in a region under U.S. restrictions, here nan of U.S. company presented

I make demos only for opensource technologies and/or devices with homebrew hack

short-fuck Apple

Soooo... why do you care about it so much? 🤔

because
it promoted on many opensource and demoish portals(like this)
promoted as "something good"
Apple requires a paid developer account, which can be blocked because the developer "from the restricted territory"(that half of the world) (even launching device once on the restrcted territory mark that account as account to ban and it be banned on first internet connecton(Nintendo did it same way-ban account and softlock for single use in "not allowed therritory"))

Apple is an enemy to modern software development
and Apple is not platform for "demoscene"
demoscene should alow "every person in the world create code" not just "people that allowed to write code by U.S. corporation"

I don't know if you've noticed, but demos aren't usually opensource ;)

And who are you to decide what counts as demoscene platform?

Last time I checked the demoscene isn't stopping anyone from creating code.

on macos, no it doesn't
Sooo nice new hardware but it’s evil because you heard a rumour you need a paid account (funny how people make demos on Mac without) and the company is restricting accounts, presumably to comply with the law but that’s the company’s fault and not the politicians?

Ever wondered if you’re irrationally angry about the wrong things?

Perhaps we're out of the sudden very eager to publish demos to the App Store and that's why access to commercial platform being paid is so irritating.

Anyway aside of the fact that on the demo scene platform is niche (like if that was unique attrib for Mac only to consider) I think there is is lot of space to creatively unleash yourself if you have time.

Back in 2018 I made one small demo for Mac just to test the process. The only thing that was annoying was actually my lack of experience and knowledge to make it more modern, thus I've gone into SDL way and tricks. Shame on me. :)

But at least I'm aware all the creative manners I represent are equal to toilet paper and that's the irony many folks don't get until find their own pants dirty.

Good that demo scene is full of idealistic approach only until we find out that it's all about booze at parties full of nerds who communicate with cryptic language to describe themselves higher in the ladder.

Then it's back to normal. Cheers for that mateys, we're all lamers until rocking demo is shown on the latest mac. :> *(just kidding).

@hollowone I actually think mac isn’t much good for cross platform stuff, OpenGL is depreciated (and sucks in various ways), and mostly it’s basically just another pc 🤷‍♀️

If you target the mac specific stuff tho (metal and the media APIs particularly), it’s a lot more fun and there’s scope to do some unique things. But also a much bigger time investment since you have to learn the platform.

if you type of person that "does not care about anything unless this something hit your face"... then yes you can stay blind and ignore everything that corporations doing to "sell air" and split people into groups by money income

Facebook Microsoft and Apple are on war against opensource and "hacker"-community(which include demoish projects), if you ignore it means you accept their rules and facts that those corporations do they ban the whole county from using their products and they lying about "they are friendly to opensource and human rights".

Using any of their products means you accept it so shame on you.

So, considering you've released Windows prods, you apparently also accept this?

Windows has GCC-port opensource compiler(or even clang)(I build .exe in Linux using mingw), and I build by .exe using it, Windows Visual Studio also free for use with no regional restrictions (for free version, paid version restricted)
so anyone can make or build Windows binary executable without paying anything to anyone and without any registrations anywhere
and anyone can launch that .exe just downloading this file, application do not need any "certificates" to be able work on user side

@All

With regards to the demoscene, the modern Apple has been a rather boring platform so far, it is my feeling at least, correct me if I am wrong.
Maybe the switch to ARM is going to capture more interest, who knows.

VS Studio does not have any restriction, only "bad" this is not opensource
why VS Studio free - because the popularity of opensource projects and compilers
when Microsoft understand that there "no point" to make it free any longer because quality (that include performance/usability/modern platform/technology integration etc) of opensource software
then they make it "paid only" and exclusive for their PC platform

this is a reason for MS to develop their own ARM platform only to make it exclusive and push "corporation exclusives" on that platform
this is also a reason for MS to "boycott" cmake/C++ standard(making their own and completely incompatible with standards like C++17) and many other popular "opensource production frameworks"

but opensource very big now and MS has no choice but support opensource technologies in their MS software

... I think it obvious to understand "exclusivity of the product" that allow making alot of "moneys from air"
