scene music stolen

category: music [glöplog]
All well though, he did eventually pay these people. The "big pimpin" thing was actually quite a big lawsuite, Jay-Z was not amused :)

And there is nothing wrong with crate-diggin' as long as it's done correctly!

while i was actually searching for the shirt, my mate reminded me of that red thing next to my table and the photo of it that's cruising through all the image archives for ages, i almost forgot that it had that dlz-sticker on it as well =)

okkie: crate diggin' i have a lot of obscure records, from long b4 i was born, or just very random genres, people have given me. Some good things to sample, not so well known, but i wouldn't use so much to form such a big basis of my work. even if I did take so much, i'd clear it though, its hypocracy on a major scale if i didn't.

apparently they are supposed to stop vinyl by 2010 or something, for envoiromental reasons, the oil used for the plastic etc, or they want people to re-melt them , like they pulp badly selling books.

d a l e z ý e : thanks , u reminded me, i gotta post a letter tomorrow =)

There was an interview of Timbaland in the weekly supplement (NYT) of Helsingin Sanomat (Finland's largest newspaper). Short question about Azidjazzed Evening got a short answer from Timbaland: "Legally it's ok to sample".
and it is! As long as you give proper credit and payment to the original author!

phew, good that I sampled that Nelly Furtado album onto my computer instead of copying it.

in an interview with swedish radio a month ago, nelly furtado was asked which artist she would sample if she could pick whoever she wished. her reply was julio iglesias.

oldc64scener: that's retarded, they are now accusing him of stealing a musical STYLE? Than you should sue all rappers cause they stole from Grandmaster Flash and the Sugerhill Gang.

Chuck Norris created all music during the big bang.

okkie : well u did notice my little comment at the end, and on another few threads there ;-) . 1xtra is one of the stations certain producers will try to get their stuff promoted on in the UK as its relevant for certain types of music. for me, I would never deny my very varied influences or make them out to be mine.

xeNusion : thing is i don't even own a psp, even if i did... but 105mb for a download? :| it's all pre-rendered on a pc or something, hence the filesize? 20mb etc i can' understand, but that much. yikes..i thought this was about stolen music, not stolen bandwidth =)

xernobyl : chuck norris?!?!, are u sure it wasn't that infamous seal with the bucket (of beats) ? =)

hopefully a nice "holiday" photo of tempest in the states will be posted at some point ;-) as trying to explain things to clueless fan-boys on youtube is getting boring.lol

have a nice weekend all.
timbaland @ ecw

right, rvd is a tad less cool now that he's been crawling up timba's ass. =)

oldc64scener (get a decent handle for chrisakes! ;)): Heh, well, he can do any style and doesn't have to say 'this is UK Grime kids! make notes!' I mean, for samples I can understand, but for musical style it's seriously retarded to expect a list of styles per song:

"This song is a bit of Electro mixed with Drum 'n Bass and Techno, please don't sue me!"

Oh, and I don't know if you agree, but Lady Sovereign is the best thing to come out of the UK since the Goldie Lookin Chain :)

okkie : I have heard of LS, again she was heard on 1xtra. ;-)
GLC was funny, things like "your mums a nutter".hehe. really not my cuppa tea. I grew up in an area that was very rich in jungle / d&b etc producers/pioneers, so got into it by accident or fate, swapping demos with a producer from a label, way back in 1989.

I will revert back to one of my 2 scene names when/if I ever do coding etc again. tbh I was more "mr PR" for the group, getting demos played at parties and modeming the latest productions to my mega-swapper friends in europe=) 1200 baud rox...lol... fun times, long ago.

Coming back to Hardy Hard's "Silver Surfer", did someone update the credits on his site or has it been overlooked before? There it (now?) reads "originally written by Walkman":
http://www.hardy-hard.de/flash/archiv/silver.html

Even Wikipedia clearly states Walkman as the original Author of his "
Silver Surfer" Amiga Remake Hit:
http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hardy_Hard

Cheers & thank you for this ingenious thread against that shameless Timbaland-threat!

utx1379: The credit was added later. See Virgil's post, page 57...

What was that name of the guy who stole a purplemotion track and claimed to be producer of all sorts of movie-soundtracks etc? Remember it from modarchive.

@Dubmood, Planet X?.
added on the 2007-05-14 06:45:12 by raina raina
One of the funniest thing about Jay Newingham (the Planet-X guy) was that he also claimed to be Basehead. Unfortunately, that was a clear-cut case of idiot; Timbaland is much more difficult - he's not so stupid as to claim he IS GRG or Tempest.
but if they do it cleverly, they now can claim to be timbaland. they even have some proof :)

it would be amusing though - large black dude appearing at asm claiming to be young finnish c64 graphician.
