Chuck - audio programming language

category: general [glöplog]

Hmm, stumbled across Chunk via HackerNews and started wondering if there would be any decent (interactive) demo use for this?

Yeah chuck's pretty interesting. It's a good alternative showing one can design a signal based language that does not rely on graphical representations (max/msp pd vvvv)

The original implementation was kind of so-so, I'm sure now it has evolved into something pretty cool. Their concepts of shred(s) is also pretty useful.

If I have one little doubt, it's that they might reach a limit when it comes to add syntaxic sugar. At some point it might cost more than it provides.

Unrelated in design but related in objective (both are related to the livecoding group toplap) there is fluxus, which addresses the issue of visuals and audio.

so in this video, the music isn't generated realtime but visuals are created on the fly on top of it, right ?
Yeah the visuals are realtime generated, and they are also _programmed_ in realtime. (Which is the difference with a demo)
