Why would we want (wow, four w-words in a row) to use old an inferior BBS-technology, when the current generation is SO much better?

Because there is no ANSI gfx here ofcourse!

scoutski > no personal meaning in my sentence
If one's to be very strict and oldschool:

Current "Pouet BBS" message system is not a BBS (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bulletin_board_system)

It's a messageboard or Bulletin Board, not a whole system for various applications like this unless you count the entire pouet. But since Pouet BBS != Pouet I take it that so is not the case.

Also nowadays it could be considered an internet FORUM: http://encyclopediadramatica.com/Forum

however if one would setup a telnet BBS with mySQL backend to list prods, vote etc it would be a BBS
which in my opinion would be very cool, because that's where it all began - a nice homage to the oldschool, access the demoscene in the way it was first communicated while 'online'...

Disclaimer: Maybe I'm entirely wrong in my assumptions in this post, if so, just disregard this message and continue with whatever you were doing and forget you ever read this.

BBS's being called boards and this bulleting board being called a BBS is sometimes annoying when searching for stuff on pouet.

it looks like a mishmash of various more or less finished sites/initiatives with a majority of c64/amiga dinosaurs in it's audience

good question... i probably would be using it just as often as my bitfellas account :P

i have this brilliant idea.. let's set up some real pouet.net SMOKE SIGNALING!! Every 1,000th member can buy a luxuous outline lighter for only 2,50 euros! oin't it brill?
CW (or better RTTY) would be more long distance though :)

Well after some hardware glitches UZi SUiCiDE BBS is back and better than ever. I completed the INT2 hack on my 3000T motherboard and am now running a 68 Gig Segate off the CyberstormPPC scsi bus. All backups from 88-97 should be back online by tomorrow. uzisuicide.servebbs.org
