XBOX-demos?

category: general [glöplog]
I got an xbox for christmas, and thought I could try to find some demos for it. But..
I didn't find xbox as a platform here, and the first ten pages of the bbs-threads overview didn't help me either.
are there any demos for the (unmodded) xbox?

the only xbox demo that comes to mind is doomsday by komplex from asm2003 (http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=10586&howmanycomments=-1)

Also, you're probably gonna need a modded xbox instead of an unmodded one.

The Xbox is a bad system for sceners and hobby programmers as well because there is NO unofficial development kit out there. Means every single demo, application, freeware game is ILLEGAL.

yeah, go PS2 :D

Better: Go DC! ;) All free development kit, most active (homebrewn videogame console) scene!

There are several demos available, most of which aren't horribly exciting, more proof of concept type things. You can find them where you can find various homebrew things for xbox.

Also the unoffical development kit is there, and SDL.

(Not that there was any logic to the statement of legality anyway, nor do I actually care if a certain local company doens't like my demo addiction.)
Freeze already told you what i would like to tell everyone but the Original First Release of an X-box demo(at a party) in the whole scene was
Scener's Brain by Reversed Engineers.
If you like to have this demo lug00ber , do it by contacting through http://reversed_engineers.demoscene.gr

that usually doesn't stop people (which is a good thing); it's not like sony is happy about all that bullshit hobbyists are pullin' on their consoles.

but all that aside; i would promote ps2 coding too, to keep the 'exclusiveness' of the whole thing a little intact; the xbox is prone to lousy pc-style n00b programming, while ps2's are clearly *not* addressable by novice idiots. the xbox platform *does* allow some funky 'indepth' programming that could help one to obtain quite impressive results from the machine, but before anyone outside of the gamedev industry starts doing as such (and even inside that industry it's still quite a rarity to think for yourself instead of blatantly using the xtl) i'm not going to be very impressed by the demos that will be released on this platform.

so, ps2 yeh. i don't trust these people with xbox'es :)

besides that, these unofficial devkits (sdl ports and the likes) should die (because they're horribly useless and weak, as compared to the official ones) and the authors shot en plain public; what a bunch of crap.

To be honest though, I'd rather see more xbox demos than another 2d-tunnel-filled GBA one.

is there actually anything but the compiler in the unofficial gc sdk? i would suppose that some headers and libraries would be useful there too... but that probably where we are crossing the line between legal and....whatever
