Open sourcing pouet.net ?

Of course I feel bad about the reaction, as the intention is just to make sure pouet lasts and evolves without whatever the scene needs.

I presume you meant to say "make sure pouet lasts and evolves WITH whatever the scene needs" here?

If that was indeed the case: guess what - Gargaj (and Tomoya, and others) were already evolving Pouet into what the scene (aka the active Pouet user base) needed - it was called Pouet 2.0.

You say you want to make sure Pouet evolves into "what the scene needs", and then you put yourself - someone who hasn't really been actively involved with either the scene or Pouet for years and years - in charge, and kick out everyone who worked on the site while you were away? And by "away" I mean: after you handed off responsibilities to someone you trusted (ps) who in turn handed them over to someone he trusted (Gargaj) and who had been doing a good job up until the point you decided that simply because Gargaj said "I'm not really a fan of open sourcing Pouet right no" in a mail it was time to just dethrone everyone and take the source you no longer owned the rights to, slap your (and only your) name on it and give it away?

Wow, just ... wow.

Ok, guys, I did something wrong by not sharing the keys back to Gargaj, but it's been 4 days now, and you can thank mog for this. Reread the thread as much as you like it. I'll stop wasting time trying to make a point, as it's not useful at all.

Like it or not, Gargaj can modify any file whenever he want without me in the way, and I'm not asking him to, he just can, like any maintainer could for years.

At least now other people can too, and I'm not asking for anything, it's just possible.

Bye.

No, he can't. Stop lying.

Not that he wants to either: you seem to have a problem reading what he tells you.

Bye.

How mature.

So, how long do you plan to stay away from the site this time? This site, btw, you claim you watch in silence and have a good overview of what its users and community wants?

The community, btw, who are the ones filling it with content? Content you refuse to open source (in an almost turn of events).

Well. I updated my photo-chop to reflect the current narrative of what seems like the biggest and most fucked-up scene-drama ever.

..is that about right?

Needs music. I think this would be ideal:

This escalated quickly. Can someone write a short version of what happened here?

xernobyl: I would actually recommend you read the whole thread, just so you get the timeline and comments, but if you don't want to do that, then this sums it up nicely.

Am I the only one who senses a slightly autistic inability to even accept the existence of outside viewpoints here?

The Adok is strong with this one.

To be fair I don't blame analogue for quitting this thread-witch hunt, even if he screwed up out of prideful paranoia by changing the password etc., he's getting something of a kicking here, everyone deserves compassion?

Communication is a two-way street. Compassion, even more so.

Analogue is getting resistance because he's in the wrong, and doubly so because of the way he responds to the resistance. The fact that he's unable to grasp just how badly he has behaved and mismanaged the situation just makes it worse.

alk: Good sir! This is the digital world, we have no need for this analog "compassion" bullshit you speak of ;)

As much as I agree with you, I'll be the first one to admit it's really hard, doubly so when you feel that something you love is in severe danger (something that applies to any side of the discussion here). Triply so when there are nerds involved -- this is pouet after all ;)

Maybe we all need to call it a day and go back to the topic in a week or so.

actually, picking up nic0's antrophological study idea (or whatever it's spelled), a documentary about all this drama with live interviews would be extremely cool :)
