• It's taken a while for it to sink in exactly *how* hardcore this is, but whenever I have an idea for a raster effect on the Spectrum and think "nah, it'll take weeks of effort just to get the timings right" - well, that's exactly what lft has done here in every single scene, or just to get a static pixel on the screen for that matter. Pretty damn mindblowing.

• All the while I was watching this, I was waiting for the inevitable unfunny lame-attempt-at-controversy punchline, probably involving something like a flaming Jesus accompanied by strobe lights and a grindcore soundtrack.

• Thumbing someone down for having a crappy webhost is almost as lame as thumbing down for "doesn't work on my P166+Voodoo3". There's clearly a fully self-standing 400-byte intro buried amongst the ads.

• truck / visy: I realise that you're not being *entirely* serious, but the sound and video output on the ZX81 are wired to the same bit of the same I/O port. A demo that managed to combine audio and visuals effectively really would be worth a thumb up... I suspect the best you're going to get is a "tribute" to Cognoscere :-)

• Post-party version - should now work correctly on Spectrum 16K (+AY), making it the third ever demo for the 16K apparently...
  
  Incidentally, the code here is completely unoptimised and could quite possibly be brought down to 512b, with a lot of work. But personally I have better things to do :-)
