- Awesome prod! Idea of extending the selftest alone is worth the the thumb, more so the whole intro! :)

- Pretty and quite moody visuals. Music is nice, but 4klang. Not that it's bad, but single synth taking whole 4k scene is not something I'm glad to see happening.

- 32k demo Atari VCS Derivative 2600 by Cluster & DMA [web]
- Well... if anybody would like a shot at compositing using my synth, just drop me an email. I can't legally share publicly the precompiled VST right now (Steinberg SDK and Stella GPL licences don't match), so everybody willing to use it will have to just contact me.

- 8k Windows Neuron Activated by DMA [web]
- Regarding the guitar synth questions: it's custom modular synth. The guitar starts with a power chord played with gm.dls violin (raw sample with loop) + down sweeping lowpass filter (fast decay for muted sound, long for normal), then a lot of very simple overdrive and gain modules, with very short delay fx thrown in the middle for poor man's "string simulation". Finished with a norma delay, or two.
If anyone would like to try this synth, simply drop me a mail (contact info is on devkk.net), and maybe you'll have more luck than me in the guitar matter. :) - isokadded on the 2015-06-14 16:11:27

- > sound is terrible.
Thank VCS designers for the hardware. They never intended it to be suited to any music.
Still, the music was enough to make whole party clap to the beat for half the demo. :)
> if it runs on PAL VCS...
It does. It was run on the party from stock (except for a composite mod) Atari 2600 PAL sixer and Harmony cart using just 32kB bankswitching.
> precalculating cube saved the show :)
As far as I understand, it was realtime.
> But is it really stock VCS if you're doing bankswitching?
Bankswitching was a common practice at the time of VCS popularity heights and the demo uses bankswitching scheme invented at that time by Atari themselves.
You can refer to F4 "Atari 32k" scheme in this document for details:

Even with extra TTLs on cart, it's still in lower spectrum of what people did with 2600 at that time (carts with extra 2k RAM, custom gfx/sound chips or even a tape interface).
