- demo Animation/Video Marinows by Insiders
- I am actually unsure, what is more childish, the authors' decision or the reactions here in the comments. No-one seems to doubt the reality of the demo (it was shown on real hardware). Also, no-one does this to make money or make any political statements, so the demoscene spirit seems intact. I understand the argument that usually demoscene releases are released in binary form. However, I am failing to understand why so many people feel entitled to have the binary release based solely on the fact that the demo was entered into the compo.
Yes, this was a personal gift. Often gifts like this are shown out of compo. A the same time, many people I talked to tend to agree that this was the best demo shown at the party. Is it healthy to say that the best demo should not get the first place due to the unusual conditions of the release? - rulezadded on the 2018-05-10 20:12:03
- demo ZX Spectrum atarin by Techno Lab
- Technically this is very special. For people from other platforms: ZX Spectrum is lagging behind in terms of digital sounds and similar tricks, because ZX Spectrum comes with no timers (except from the frame interrupt). Hence, digital sounds on ZX Spectrum are seriously annoying to make, they are basically "raster effects" that have to be timed to a single t-state. Well, this new replayer supports samples, duty cycle emulation and few other Atari ST-style tricks. One day this may even become maZXymizer.

- Many thanks for releasing it. The scene with the girl is very special. It was well worth the wait.

- The dream about ZX Spectrum eurodemos still lives. And new multi-platform compatible demos have been made and are being made. Thanks for the inspiration!

- demo Amiga AGA Atari Falcon 030 Rift by The Black Lotus [web]
- This probably isn't my favourite TBL demo. I really miss earlier multilayered text-heavy designs. However, the ripped/recreated/whatever-you-like scenes, i.e. the credits, the subway greets, as well as the amazing statue and the flower in a wasteland matched to a silhouette photo, they all pack so much gravity, that it would be insane to give it anything below thumbs up. Seeing scenes of this quality on the 1990s computer is unbelievable.

- demo ZX Spectrum Break Space by Thesuper
- FAO gloom: "IMHO: "ripping" is a pretty harsh term being thrown around here. Clearly some parts were heavily inspired by existing works, and those inspirations turned into recreations, but recreating and reinterpreting something isn't the same as ripping, especially not in the demoscene sense." Just saying.

- demo ZX Spectrum refresh by Extreme Entertainment
- Some of the transitions in this demo are still unmatched on Spectrum and, for that matter, on pretty much any other 8-bit platform. This is a rare case where raw c0depron is perfectly matched by the equally ambitious design. The scenes that do not fit the overall storyline did not age well, but that girl's face turning out to be a computer screen is likely to be the most unexpected and non-trivial transition on Spectrum ever.
