- I think I have found the problem. We rely on GL_EXT_texture_rectangle support and it looks like nvidia only support their own NV_texture_rectangle extension. So it looks like I have to commit some code to disk.

- only tested on ati radeon 9700 pro. it might work on nvidia fx cards, but we haven't checked because we don't have one.
