- demo Amiga AGA Chaotic by Dekadence [web]
- A fine demo in all respects. Since it was announced only as Amiga in the compo slides and since Grind was so awesome, I kept wondering for a while whether it was for OCS or AGA. I have to say that I am a bit disappointed that it wasn't the best OCS demo ever :)

- demo Windows Platonic Love by .fail Enterprises
- Maybe a bit of a spherical coordinate overload, but overall a rather nice, clean show executed with a refreshingly spare aesthetics. Was perhaps a bit unfairly trounced by the monsters in the compo, but that's what always happens with non-massive demos at parties like Assembly.

- demo Windows Grandma by Rustbloom
- Nice idea, but it dragged on a bit too much I think. Maybe it could've been extended into the part where you eat the rolls or something like that (or shortened by a minute or so). Also, the text was so small that it was hard to read on the big screen, which took out a part of the entertainment.

- 4k Linux Windows FreeBSD Dirty Garden by Faemiyah [web]
- Nice (and definitely the best FreeBSD 4k intro ever), but I feel that it somehow overstayed its welcome. I kept waiting for things to happen and they never did.

- demo Windows Spin by Andromeda Software Development [web]
- Lovely visuals and lovely music. I couldn't imagine this with any other kind of music (or any other kind of vocals for the music, for that matter). I think this will eventually replace Dreamchild as my favourite ASD demo but time will tell. It also made me want to rewatch Chariots of Fire, which is never a bad thing.
(and it's also now the best demoscene production featuring a running rhino. This one will be hard to beat...) - rulezadded on the 2011-08-07 11:44:12
- demo Commodore 64 1991 by Booze Design
- unbeliever: Flashback/retro-kind of demos aren't really anything new, there have been great many of those over the years. This one, however, is by far the best I've seen. Lots of lovely routines in it, especially the raster/picture effect thing.

- 4k Windows Terraformers by Digimind & Silent
- Technically this was pretty cool and the caleidoscope/mirror/whatever mesh engine produces some really nice shapes. However, two thing ruined the intro for me: The part where the thing sinks underground (why in the first place? and why doesn't the ground react to it any way?), and the fact that nothing really happens. If this is about terraforming, how about actually terraforming something? You have a magical tech machine that comes from the sky, floats around a bit and then leaves. Does that make any sense?

- 4k Windows Coder Porn! by Archee [web]
- Short, sweet and to a point. Not every single intro needs to be 4 minutes long with multiple parts, and this one manages to combine both a concept and really nice tech into a sweet package. Best in compo.

- 4k Windows anglerfish by Cubicle [web]
- This particle thing seems to be the hip effect of 2011, and rarely have I seen it executed with such a sense of aesthetic as here. Definitely one of the highlights of the 4k compo.

- demo iOS Brause Peak by Inversion
- I am sorry, but the walking robot completely ruined the demo for me. The skull particles were really nice and you could've built a lot more on top of that, but instead you tried to be Portal Process with tech that wasn't really up to it. Now, that wouldn't in itself had been all that bad (there have been worse attempts at it), but the walking pair of legs with 90's Voodoo1 era texturing floating in air made me burst into giggles and I couldn't take anything in this demo seriously after that. Why not try building a demo around a concept next time and think and evaluate it through before putting stuff on the screen?
