• leonard, you can give much tighter lower bounds than that. :) take the minimum number of words you have to change in memory from one frame to the next. then take the maximum of that over all frames till the animation loops (depending on the formula, this may take a while :), but as there's only a finite number of memory states as you mentioned, it's bound to happen). with that minimum "words changed" count, figuring out a minimum bound for the number of cycles spent that's not too far off should be possible ;)
