- Vista doesn't support fullscreen mode 13h. But with DOSbox, mode 13h intros work on Vista for me. Even switching to fullscreen works, but the palette is distorted.

- This reminds me of what I did in QBasic when I was young :)
The tunes are great indeed, especially the Star Wars theme. - rulezadded on the 2008-12-05 20:46:36

- It takes a very long time to loop, and the code seems to be heavily optimized with a lot of tricks. Sometimes the output on screen looks good.

- I regret that I was so careless and let the article about IQ differences between races slip into the first version of Hugi #35 that was released. I'm terribly sorry and want to apologize to everybody whose feelings have been hurt due to this.

- 4k diskmag MS-Dos ObTain #1 by Nasty Bugs [web]
- Obtain was the third 4k diskmag that appeared in the scene, after Wilby and Fuzzby. It was made by Bad Sector of Nasty Bugs, who was also working on a bigger diskmag project named Obscurum, which was never released. Like with Fuzzby, not more than one issue of Obtain was released. The single issue can be downloaded from scene.org (about 430 downloads so far). It's a diskmag for MS-DOS, but it also works on modern PCs even without the DOSBox emulator.
Obtain #1
Obtain #1 was released on September 21st, 2003. All the code and contents were made by Bad Sector. There were no remarkable graphics and no sound, but several short articles. They dealt with the lack of diskmags in the PC scene, how to make a 4k diskmag, why Bad Sector wanted his 386 back and whether coca cola is addictive. Moreover, there was a page with links to various demoscene-related websites, including the Hugi website.
You can't expect a 4k diskmag to have a lot of content, but if the content is interesting, it's good. However, the articles in Obtain #1 are mostly trivial and so it's not really exciting. - isokadded on the 2008-11-08 18:12:44
- diskmag MS-Dos New World Order #8 by Weird Magic [web]
- New World Order #8
The last issue of New World Order was released in January 1996. This issue was a production of the group Weird Magic, as could be seen in the intro. The editorial was written by Mr. Logic of Weird Magic. He also coded the engine. The background graphics were from Face of Weird Magic. The musical score consists of four tunes, by MiG of Weird Magic, Guybrush of Weird Magic, The Rew of Nostalgia, and Balrog of Proxima and Noice. The charts categories are the same as always, except that there's a new category about the most popular site on the Internet. Only 16 people voted, nevertheless the charts were published. The party section focuses on Bizarre 1995 and Wired
1995. There are several more serious and not-so-serious articles and stories, all in all the menu occupies four pages. One article is a Danish scene report, which turned out to be a source of controversy. There's also an Australian scene report. The only interview is with the editor of this issue, Mr. Logic. All in all it may be a nice issue if you enjoy weird stories and nonsense, otherwise it doesn't have a lot of contents for you. - isokadded on the 2008-11-08 18:11:40
