- The article about swaplist.txt was a nice surprise :) There is a little mistake though: it wasn't like this that the demoscene swappers discovered the swaplist and added their ads to this, but it was the other way round. The first ads were collected by Terror Kid. Terror Kid then discovered a file named contax.nfo, copied it and pasted it into his file.
The people on that list are actually mostly readers of the German magazines PC-Heimwerker and Computer Flohmarkt, who were influenced by the "real" scene and took over some of its traits such as handles and some of the scene's customs, although real sceners would have classified them as "lamers". This was in the pre-Internet days when the "real" scene was a small, elitist core that communicated with each other only using mail and a couple of (for the ordinary user, more or less "hidden") BBS's... nowadays I guess most of them would easily integrate into "the scene" :) - isokadded on the 2006-12-28 15:00:25
