  Direction is a bit lackluster though. There's no tension, just the lazy change-cam-by-beat synching.

• Too good for stroboholics, not good enough for a "serious" release. Some of those scenes look very yummy though. Could have been (even) better. :)

• Ah, some actual oldschool shit, not just in name only. Also the most non-MegaDrive/FM sounding music I've ever heard out of this machine. Good job.

  And not just colorful, but pretty too. Although I'm not so fond of the formless "fog/cloud shading" on the marching cubes, that was way too fuzzy lookin'. :)

• So, this is the most ignored ASM winner since... 2008 or so, the last time these guys won. And oh boy, It's yet another mixed bag of potatoes, as they try to channel ASD yet again, only to come out as SDS, yet again. Why do they keep doing this? Maybe because it works, not artistically, but who can argue with the voters. ;)
  
  It's not all that bad though, it runs very well on 4+ years old GPUs and there are some on-your-nose, but decently presented scenes that I like (f.e. the train station). But overall, it's the overwhelming feeling of genericness and artistic mediocrity that keeps it from being more than just forgettable.

• Retro done right? Or at least, that's what it looked like. And I always liked shmups, so here you go.
  
  (I didn't bother with the XNA install orgy though, but I liked the presentation well enough for a thumb up.)

• 4k JavaScript HBC-00013: Highway 4k by ½-bit Cheese [web] & Tekotuotanto
• As a 4k intro amongst other 4k intros, it's a rather mediocre achievement, barely beating stuff that was released up to ten years ago. The sounds are thin and the action barely par for the course (weak pun alert!).
  
  But as a 4k in Javascript/WebGL, it's quite brilliant and certainly a milestone and probably the only ASM '13 thing that had some kind of wow factor to it.
