- demo ZX Spectrum Add Mortem by Arise & Joker [web]
- This is great prod!
As for the loading technique, I'm a ZX Spectrum Next enthusiast so I won't throw any stones at this one.
IMHO the I/O situation of the classic Spectrums is so different these days nobody uses real tape anymore even with the real hardware. Thusly, writing a demo that works on the original hardware with divMMC is good enough. I can still run it on my +2.
No worse than demos that only work with TR-DOS in my opinion (BTW re: evilpaul's question, TRD-accepting compos usually limit the size with 636/640KB as that was the natural limit of the TR-DOS disk. But as the .tap format has no metadata or anything that would impose such a limit, you could stream even 100MB if you want).
Again. I am of an opinion that I/O aspect of the platform isn't important. If you want to limit the size, there's a number of other formats (4KB intro, 64KB intro) which you can compete in (granted, 64KB intro is almost unheard of on the ZX Spectrum, but there were other size limited formats like e.g. 16KB). - rulezadded on the 2025-04-20 06:48:10
- 256b ZX Spectrum Roll Me Gently by Joker [web]
- Outstanding visuals! Just from the screenshot it didn't look like a Spectrum prod to me, let alone a 256b intro. Chapeaux bas

- Incredibly good storytelling and coding, and all that on a challenging platform! Also, the source is included in the archive! Makes me want to look into BK coding :)

- demo Dreamcast AJ-02
- Wow, this looks very good and has all the right vibes of an early 2000s demo. Doubly impressive that this is a first prod. Good luck!
