• Use the nice.com, colorful/area51 are only so slow because they use VRAM reads; the version without is a lot faster, but 1 byte bigger. The intention was doing a rotzoom as small as possible :)

• This was actually an entry to the 64b compo; contained are three versions: the original version which was shown at the party and is 51bytes, the colorful version you're seeing the screenshot from (64bytes), and a not-so-colorful but faster and more compatible version (also 64bytes).

• bush: rayCAST, not rayTRACE. you don't need to find an intersection point, just use a small enough step size and stop when the ray is in the volume of the cube, which is trivial to check.

• Though most of the demos in this show aren't in my favourites list (and won't be either :), it's very nice to see them properly recorded on a system that's much faster than mine, and the overall presentation was quite wellmade, so wtf... it rules.

• why? i'd simply raycast the cube, use the "intersection point" to generate the "texture coords", normalize them into [0..255] range and voila... this shouldn't be too big.
