Sure those tend to go hand in hand, but does that necessarily imply the result isn't good? I wouldn't be confident enough to make such a claim. It does tend to homogenizing things for sure though. -
Evolving on "chaos" (as in, prototypical styles yet properly explored stemming from a new / different kind of source/viewpoint) is a very interesting approach. I always love it when somebody takes a concept and runs with it, exposing a wholly different level of the original influences. - i'm just talking shit because i'm majoring in liberal arts

From another perspective it is safe to fall back on cliches and tropes. Trying new things is risky but rewarding when it pays off. -

"Most don't look for inspiration from wide enough sources" - this. And before having a stab at tropes, try making something with them that would not be chiched. This is the only kind of challenge the rest of the universe cares about -
I don't want to speak on behalf of the other CNS guys but I think we enjoy taking outside influences because we're easily bored of stuff that's we've seen before. :) We just want to make stuff we'd like to see :) -

It seems for me that CNS demo is heavily influenced by Interstellar earth-side chapters -
