Wholehearted fuckings to fucking Assembly for organizing this cretin compo.

built live by an AI (Claude) pair-programming with
mrdoob, verified frame by frame through an instrumented
emulator pipeline because the AI cannot see a monitor
or hear a SID. every effect in this file was confirmed
from screenshots and memory dumps of the running demo.
You mean verified by Claude itself, right? Nicely done.
Cool mini intro, good start!

That's a lot of insults for a single sentence :)
Thumbs up for the nature of the experiment, especially coming from someone like Mr.doob, whose track record speaks for itself. I'm a bit disappointed-ish by the result, though. It feels kind of rough around the edges, considering how much Claude is said to be state of the art.
I've only tried Codex, so I definitely can't judge, but I can relate to the process: how can an LLM “see and hear” the results of what it has generated? Interesting question.

Not enough, though. Thankfully the results speak for themselves too.
For the record...
I decided to do this as a way to deal with jetlag.
A couple of hours after I started I realized Assembly had a AI coding compo and there were only a few hours left before the deadline.
I ended up spending ~8 hours on it.
Claude wrote the nfo file.

I do not understand. Why polute the scene with all that AI stuff.
No time to learn to code?
Well...
if someone does not have time to code or, in real life, for ex. to drink a coffee, let it be drunk virtually. Why not? And thus have a feeling as if that person drunk that coffee himself.
No difference.

As an experiment it's interesting to see what modern agentic coding systems can do pretty much on their own (with minimal nudging) in a relatively short session.
The conclusion for me is, for today, it's probably better to spend those tokens on tooling and the engine/framework like they did in Plastic Sunrise demo - for much more watchable result. In the future, who knows, maybe LLMs/MLMs will develop better taste for coolness factor.
Thumb up goes to Claude for at least trying :-P

Lol fuck AI.

I think this hits the nail on the head. If you just vibecode a demo then your hobby isn't demomaking. Your hobby is talking to a chatbot.

I kinda cringe to be honest when all these attempts (and even outside the demoscene) they put credits Claude like it's anthropomorphised. But then if it's not Claude who really did the code?
I wonder how weird it would be if a non-AI prod, credits would say "Code: Visual Studio C++", "Graphics: GIMP", "Music: ProTracker"
BITS actually did do that, if I recall correctly.

It's fine and fun to list the tools and many people do that. But you would've still made it yourself.
I thought it looked and sounded pretty good. "AI Coding" might be a better name for this compo though.
what uncle-x said

?
Lol
More interesting than a lot of c-64 prods with
just a scroller + image setup.

I really like it.
If you can't resist the urge to fuck up the planet, please do it elsewhere. kthxbye
What loaderror said. I think it looks good, and the description sounds like a little fun experiment with the new tool.
Kinda surprised with the hate - it made me log in and give it a thumbs up. I've seen much sloppier prods on Pouet, with the obviously generated content, yet people didn't feel the need to express their love for the planet there.

Really, what Optimus said... I thought long about this today but this finally summarizes the feeling I always had:
"I kinda cringe to be honest when all these attempts (and even outside the demoscene) they put credits Claude like it's anthropomorphised."
It gives me the same chill as "Electric Dreams"... this guy falling for his computer... creepy and absurd at the same time. If the AI made it, the achievement isn't really yours and telling yourself otherwise is a strangely human kind of self-deception. That's the misfire I keep reacting to.

Tell me you’re trolling. Choppy scrolltext and buggy rasters in 2026 “look good”? Most people would be embarassed to release this in 1988.
wow
Nice colors.
"demonstrate" : to display ones skill ...
"paying a billionnaire a week of food to go boasting on X and discored you did nothing and it still took four weeks"
i think i'll be done with the scene within this and two years, you can just blame it on me getting old, i see no skill demonstration in this

hmm and sorry i couldnt resist, i usually only comment on prods i like and leave the rest unspoken but lately it feels like my toilet paper is a.i. powered and its looking up my arse to see if it can learn anything about me.
You're basically paying a billionnair for the licensed right to train THEIR tool with your skill
we no longer get it ... especially on "the" scene where skill has been the ichiban since the dawn of time, i get it if some indie doing a game uses it to render some cinematics which look like the a.i. has done them but better than nothing
we do not understand why anyone would pay them to say i did nothing and then post it as a demo on the biggest scene-board
dont react , its not keeping me awake, its just that i dont seem to get to be amazed much anymore since 2019 ...
As most experienced coders have now realized, AI is a fantastic tool for getting stuff done. But much like a programmer that gets promoted to a tech lead, your real coding skills starts to deteriorate and you need to regularly work without AI and do some real coding to keep your brain up to speed.
I consider the demo scene to be about writing real code. This is not that.

Did i watch the same thing as some people? This looks and especially sounds like crap.
