Mr. MegaMind is really a legend and the starwars scroll is by far the best I have ever seen.
Can anyone explain the code / mechanism ???

If i remember well, it was made with 8 sprites + 4 bitplanes in dual playfield mode, by modifying sprxdat/sprxpos/sprxctl/bplxptl every line
+ bplcon1 odd/even values twice / line (1 time for the left bitplanes columns / 1 time for the right bitplanes columns since bitplanes 1 & 3 and 2 & 4 are sharing the same bplcon1 value),
all giving 12 chars / line. Everything is pushed by the blitter into the copperlist i think, it's just a matter of having the right precalculated tables for the shape of the scroll.

First time I ever had a chance to watch this one was today and it's funny, the first thought i had aswell was that the starwars scroller is probly the best i have ever seen. Thx to stingray for sharing the clean image of this, good stuff, m8:) maybe someday i will try your agafix ;)

Some nice effects for the year hidden in here, not just that star wars scroll.

A little better musicwise than Megademo 1 and I liked the elastic scroller ... but the overall package is blown away by 1991's Beyond Justice ... piggie
added on the 2019-12-27 08:14:55 by Steel Steel
Steel noticed that megademo 1 is from Feb 1989, this from Dec 1989 and Beyond Justice Apr 1991? During those years even small release date differences mattered a lot.

I do love me some Einstein.

The Star Wars scroller in particular is a one-off that displays a stroke of genius, an actual mega mind at work, with full knowledge of the Amiga hardware. It's actually unbeatable - all of the subsequent entries were just scanline effects - they just didn't get it.

Star Wars... Other parts are good too.
