That intro needs VBXE card to run. You can start it using Altirra emulator.

Good one.
Supporting new hardware for classic machines is in accordance with God's will.

Boogie nights vbxe next and I'll be tempted to finally install the board in my 800xl ;)

I won a 65XE with VBXE board in 2010 - but I never managed to get the correct cable to connect it to a monitor....
This one really makes me think about "go the f.ck and solder one together myself". Nice show, esp. the lava wobble thing.

Plasma, shadebobs and sineplots? In 2013? On 2009 hardware?

You must do what you feel is right, of course.

"Internet killed the Scene and soulless platforms currently used bring nothing innovative"

And then you proceed to rock our brains with... interference circles, plasma, shadebobs, kefrens bars, a distorting texture, some faux 3d plots, rasters and a goddamn sine scroller. This is a joke, right?

while reading the introduction i thought there will be a lot of non classic/oldschool stuff. so the intro unfortunately failed on that and bored me. so even with nice tune and only 64k i can't thumb it up. piggie.
It's a nice little intro, but as already said, next time do something not previously done on the Atari 8bit. New hardware should bring new effects :)

Guys, guys... As you maybe noticed that intro is called O L D S C H O O L :) So it shows some oldschoold fx just like plasma, bars, ploters... It was like this in the beginning and remains just with using new hardware like blitter and 24bit palette. It's just a start - was made in few days.

Oldschool !!!!!

What wieczor said BB Image. This is exploring new territorry just like the DTV and not being the next 4k with some sphere marching your can just type in your browser. Esp. there still is just a small 6502 Bender Unit which now has to control all of this.

@wysiwtf: here's detailed information about VBXE: http://spiflash.org/block/15.html . It's also fully emulated in Altirra emulator.

I really like that music, and working on oldschool hardware is always nice.

Glad to see this release, especially after the stonking 'Boogie Nights' demo that was released at Sillyventure 2k12. You guys rock for sure :)

This Intro needs a new category "Atari VBXE" ... and it's definitively wrong placed here.

Although the scrolls took too long, this prod is awesome, and the extension looks awesome too! Just shows how society's concept of "outdated" is wrong.

Looks like an amiga demo.

Not very interesting, but I guess it's a nice way to show what can be done with this extension.
I assume the source code is available so other can learn how to use it?

What Dbug said.
rulez added on the 2013-03-02 13:19:58 by p01 p01
@Dbug: You're right - OldSchool (original, available on pouet) it's a really simple intro made in few days just to make an entry in one more category at SV - that one is nothing more as demostration/trial of use that hardware. And motivator :)

As far as I know, source code will be released as a part new release of DevKit for VBXE with new core, as an example of use. Soon - I'll post an information there.

Of course there are only known effects in this intro. However for the VBXE exists no production like that one beside some very tiny screen samples.

I think it deserves a thumb up, because it wants to motivate people to contribute to the scene.

Exactly what Bugo the Cat said.

Somebody makes 1st VBXE intro, call it "Old School", and ppl start to complain about it? Gee, guys. Of course THUMBS UP for the creators ! It's awesome sample of the new HW for Atari XL/XE.

More please!
