No video yet, sorry! If you try the disc image in an emulator, the boot option is wrong so you have to run using "*RUN !Boot" rather than shift+break (I'll upload a fixed version some time). Also some parts are a little broken in BeebEm.

Loved this. I was at the party and had I have walked around a bit more instead of playing "pinball" I'd have expressed how happy I was to see a BBC computer again and being used.

Very impressed with the demo.

pupp did a great job writing a VGM player in the days before the party. some of the code needed optimisation ... the BBC can do more than this!

The quality is pretty weak though: my shonky capture card could only manage 25fps, which kind of spoils the 50fps parts of the demo.

Nice music and nice usage of the platform apparently.

Gratz!

There are some pitch issues with the music which I'm working on now. Nothing to do with pupp's replayer. Emulators seem to make matters worse so best to run on real h/w ;)

new version uploaded, you can start it with Shift-Break. If you're using an emulator, don't forget to set the hardware model to BBC Master 128

platform thumbup
rulez added on the 2010-09-07 10:22:07 by martin martin
It should run on any Master yeah (it uses sideways RAM bank 4 though, so make sure there's nothing in there). There'll be some pauses if running from floppy - running from GoMMC works best!

nice, and the music is great!

btw, i don't know anything about the bbc micro, but according to wikipedia it seems quite powerful; is there a reason why the effects look substandard compared to the c64 demos?

omg, the platform o_O
I love it, specially the music id great

blala: the beeb has no VIC, it has a 6845 CRTC for timing signals and a simple ULA. 8 colours, no sprites, no hblank interrupt afaik.

And apart from the technical details, it might be instructive to take a look at the comparative number of prods on both C64 and BBC. The Beeb tended to be much more of an educational computer rather than a home machine, so didn't get so much of a demoscene interest.

Platform autothumb. :) Is it wrong to get a boner from a bbc micro demo?

Real nice talking to you guys at sundown too!
