Next time please, at least, notify (if there is no time for asking) the original shader authors. One of them just told me that he is not happy about it but he probably would have said yes if you'd asked.

If you don't ask, some coders stop publishing their awesome stuff and keep them for their own prods. I've seen it happening and it makes me sad.

In your case, you've accidentally (massively) used a shader that is part of a game project that is work in progress. It's easy to understand that the author wanted shadertoy to be the only place for his previews/fragments of his development. Those kind of conflicts can easily be avoided by communication.

Anyway, nice demo for a partyprod!

so it's just a collection of borrowed shadertoy shaders or what?

@movAX13h

I totally agree with your comments, especially regarding notification/communication parts. I should have contacted the authors in beforehand. It was poor judgement on my behalf.

I'm currently in the process of notifying the original authors.

@Maali

Yes. It's a mashup of existing shaders.
It's a "shader mashup party production".

Shaders were manually converted and tweaked to fit into whole.
Original music was cfeated and effects were synced.
Only a few very small shaders were written from scratch.
All original shader authors have been contacted via mail or shadertoy.
Srtuss has not been contacted and you've used his shader "Relentless" intensively.

leaving the shader drama aside...it's looking good. Music is pretty average.

Its an excellent idea and I think there should be more demos showcasing shadertoy like this.

@movAX13h
I mailed Struss (stral@aon.at) at 16:52 today.
Ah nice, thanks!

Shadertoy is killing the scene, lol. I already noticed from the last screenshot the shader, seeing variations of it everyday in glsl.heroku. It's just so hard not to notice.

Sorry, but nothing in there to keep me excited.

ripping other people's stuff without asking for permission is pretty lame. also shadertoy license/permission is not an excuse for me.

I have no problem with using material in a way permitted by a license (except the sources don't seem to be available yet?), but the demo isn't very interesting. Decent for a few hour hack. Contains some enjoyable typography though.

i don't either, and there are demos that use textures, models and music through license, but it's just that it is not your work entirely...

Jeez, just ASK people first, also would have liked it if the shaders were altered so they at least LOOK different

I see how it looks (not bad!) but I don't see how much work is in it...
This actually started a pretty interesting (and relevant) discussion about using open source code from sources such as shadertoy.

I think this demo was a good idea, the fact the effects came from shadertoy was super explicit in every way, you had every right to use them under CC (except as noby pointed out I don't see your remixed shaders available anywhere, which violates CC's "sharealike" clause, so you might wanna fix that), and it was done in a hurry so it's quite understandable you didn't ask for permission. Go you :)

The demo is pretty meh but it was done in a hurry so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It's not a problem to re-use content if the demo credits are clear about it. Now, if a prod' is more a compilation of existing content from other people than stuff created by the author, you have to call it a Demo Pack. The Demo Pack category has been sleeping for long, gathering Shadertoy effcts can be a good idea to revive it.

Youtube video has timing issues. Can someone upload the video for direct download somewhere?

alright, i take my thumb down back... proper credit were given and license permits use of the content under this term so i have to apologize for that.

So counterthumb from me here. It may be my personal taste, but I fell in love with that uplifting dance track.
